Not a happy customer Not happy at all with VW. I bought my TDI last fall and complained about the poor milage (32 - 34 mpg) and was told it was in the parameters of expect Not happy at all with VW. I bought my TDI last fall and complained about the poor milage (32 - 34 mpg) and was told it was in the parameters of expected milage. Everyone I talked with who owned it before the "fix" got well into the 45-50 range and VW stated it would barely affect milage after the "fix". Occasionally there was a "coil light" on when cold and an "engine" signal briefly at times. When I went to Harpers with my concerns they said it was normal and would charge me a $99 diagnostic fee and not within TDI warranty. This year I finally called VW customer care and they said to take it in. The service consultants Andy Maxey and Chris Ramsey again tried to discourage me from getting it diagnosed saying it would not be covered work even though another shop ran the diagnostic for free and showed multiple "turbo boost" errors. They said the dash light had to on at the time it was brought in. What? The diagnostic was done and I was told the "throttle control" was way off and after they had a long conversation with VW headquarters they would repair it. Im sure if I had not started a case with VW customer care I would have been charged the full amount. My questions are this. 1. Why did the OBD computer NOT pick up a huge malfunction of the throttle control and display on dash? 2. Although milage is better (have not used a full tank yet) it is still no where near common levels. Why? 3. Why did I have to fight so hard to get it fixed? 4. The Harper VW service consultants blamed VW main for the "confusion" over warranty. Is this true? How can I ever trust this dealer, or is it really VW that I can not trust? I had intended to keep this car for a long time as it had ALL the service records done on time, only 88k miles, and obviously well cared for cosmetically and garaged as paint is excellent. However, I will probably sell it and will be my last VW I or my family and friends will ever own unless these issues are resolved. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Jonathan Sielken More
