Condescending, aggressive and egomaniac service staff My wife and I wanted to take a look at a preowned Toyota RAV4 at Gurley-Leep so we decided to make a visit. After pleasantries with a service rep, Shawn (who was actually nice with us) we decided to test drive the car. After the test drive, it was time for us to cut the deal so we made some offers and after some back and forth with Shawn. The guy (who was supposed to be his superior), Jeff dropped by and decided to give us some life lessons. His tone was extremely harsh and in fact he ridiculed our offer, made fun of us at each instance. We felt insulted. I would never recommend this dealership to anybody in the future. I will not be surprised if the whole dealership will go down in the future because of the people like Jeff are working there and insulting the potential buyers. More
WORST CAR SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I was car shopping recently and heard that Gurley Leep had a special going on to match your tax return check up to $3,000 so I went in to check out what they had. I saw recently and heard that Gurley Leep had a special going on to match your tax return check up to $3,000 so I went in to check out what they had. I saw a Kia Sorento I liked, but was told at first that it was out of my price range. The salesman ended up coming back saying they could make the numbers work so I took it for a test drive. The interior wasn’t in good condition, with a spot on the dash ruined and the plastic on the back of the seats gouged in multiple spots. When we got back to the dealership, we got the run around with price. The salesman brought out the NADA retail price and we saw that Gurley Leep had the car listed $4000 ABOVE excellent retail price (which the car wasn’t). After giving us the $3000 *discount*, but even after applying that discount, the car was still above suggested retail. We asked to see other cars because obviously this was not the right car for us, and the salesman kept giving us the run around. He went back multiple times and kept coming out with info on the Kia instead of showing us other cars (as requested). Finally, a manager came out, but we were ready to leave. When I got home, I ended up doing some research and found the exact same Kia (same year, better condition) listed for $8000 less at Gates. Gurley Leep jacked up their prices so they could con car buyers into thinking they were getting a good deal. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS DEALERSHIP. They are not honest at all. More
Buyer Beware!!! Talked for 3-4 days with Gurley Leep Kia - they were nice as pie - and terms were clear and understood by both sides. Drove two hours to purchase the specific vehicle and agreed upon price - they were nice as pie - and terms were clear and understood by both sides. Drove two hours to purchase the specific vehicle and agreed upon price was not honored. They pretended there was a misunderstanding and tried to play a variety of games. There was no misunderstanding - the business development manager repeated terms back to me and offered follow up explanations over the phone several times. Funny how the "misunderstanding" was in their favor. I wouldn't have bothered writing up my experience except for the fact that they knew I'd be driving 2 hours to buy the car and could have saved me the trip. Probably thought once I was there I'd be too excited to not agree to whatever bs they put in front of me. If they pull one on you, my advice is to do what I did - leave and look for a different dealership or for a different make vehicle. More
I took my car in to be worked on for a timing chain problem. I was repeatedly told that it would be no problem to fix. I ended up being charged $1,420.00 for a car that came back to me sounding and run problem. I was repeatedly told that it would be no problem to fix. I ended up being charged $1,420.00 for a car that came back to me sounding and running exactly the same way it ran and sounded when I took it to them. When I called them the next day after I also found it was leaking oil they told me that it had metal shavings in the oil from waiting too long to get the timing chain fixed and that the car would probably only last another 30 to 40,000 miles. Now why wouldnt you have said that before you decided to charge me $1,420.00 for something that you didnt fix anyway. You are liars, con artists and rip offs. I would never reccomend anyone take their vehicle to gurley leep kia service on grape rd. I should be refunded every dollar I paid you people! More
Today I visited Gurley Leep and purchased a Master Power Window Switch. I thought this was the part I needed because the "Unlock" did not work on my old switch. The parts salesman did not question my pur Window Switch. I thought this was the part I needed because the "Unlock" did not work on my old switch. The parts salesman did not question my purchase or inform me that other things could cause this like a bad relay (12077866). The part cost $180.00. I paid by credit card and signed the credit card slip and a credit card purchase slip was attached to my receipt and I left. The parts clerk did not inform me that the purchase was final (No returns) because the part was electrical. The parts clerk did not check with his service counterparts to see if other things could cost the "unlock" to stop working on my old switch. When I returned home, I installed the new Master Switch and the problem was not resolved. I did a couple of more hours research and discovered that the $10.00 relay (12077866) might be the problem. I went and purchased one and my problem was resolved. I was on my way back to the dealership parts dept. and I happened to look at the receipt and noticed the statement "Thank you for your order no return on special order or electrical items...." I was immediately concerned and called the parts dept. and sure enough I was out $180.00 for a part I did not need. My fellow car owners, my advice to you is simple. DO NOT EXPECT GURLEY LEEP TO OFFER YOU ANY ADVICE OR SOLUTIONS. This would be giving you GOOD customer service and I think GURLEY LEEP prefers POOR customer service. I am a Service Manager, and I understand that the customer is without doubt the most important piece in successful business. Why else is a business even in business if not for the customer!. Gurley Leep refused to refund the money and take the part back. I understand they have the right because they have their policy on the receipt. The problem is you do not sign the receipt and accept that you understand their terms. In my case i signed a credit card purchase slip and a copy of that was stapled to my receipt AFTER SIGNING. So I was not given a chance to understand their policy before purchasing the part. I hope you understand what I am advising. I think the customer should be #1 and Gurley Leep is NOT taking care of you. I called the General Manager of Gurley Leep GMC and I told him the same thing and that I intended to post a blog describing the events and poor customer service. He then got very negative and said go ahead with your threat and blog away. A good General Manager would have said he would look into improving this area of customer service and making the customer aware. Folks, customer service is not hard, you just have to remember why you are in business to start with...to take care of the customers need.....not take them for every dollar by poor business practices. I will see if I can share this review in other areas like LinkedIn and Facebook. Thank you. More

Salesman told us about the serviceplan that "CAME WITH" the vehicle only to find out that we paid $1400 for it after all was said and done...nothing was said that this service plan cost money, and am WITH" the vehicle only to find out that we paid $1400 for it after all was said and done...nothing was said that this service plan cost money, and am very disappointed that this was not disclosed when the serviceplan was discussed, before the papers were signed. Will not recommend only because of this....price WOULD HAVE BEEN less than the competitors if this was not added onto the final price More
I have never financed a vehicle before and I do not have a good credit score, but was in need of a newer vehicle & wanted to re-build my credit. I went to Gurley Leep, and they pretty much pushed me in a 20 a good credit score, but was in need of a newer vehicle & wanted to re-build my credit. I went to Gurley Leep, and they pretty much pushed me in a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, which did seem decent. I feel like I was ripped off, and am very upset with this company. I had my van not even 24 hours and my ceiling by my dome light started leaking and soaked my floor. I called the next day and told Rich, who was the salesman, and he stated he would check into it and be in contact later that afternoon or by the next afternoon. Well I figured everything would be ok, considering they told me I had a 30 day/ 1,000 mile 100% parts and labor warranty, yeah I am starting to feel like a fool, because all I am getting is the run around, and Rich is trying to tell me that he thinks it is the wind shield leaking and that is not a covered part... Well I think it is b/s that I will only have the vehicle a week tomorrow and already feel they are ripping me off and will not even try to accomodate me and fix this problem. I also agree with some others who have complained about the inspection being a lie, because they said the suspenion was good and you can definitely tell I have a shock or spring problem that is going to need to be addressed, there is also pulsating in the brakes which I brought up and the finance manager Keith told me I have at least a year left on the brakes according to the inspection, some b/s too... I would advise anyone who does not want a headache and broke pocket to stay away from Gurley Leep... Wish I would have just tried around, if they helped me get into a piece of crap, I am sure another dealership at least would have treated me better this past week, instead of making me feel like I have made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I went in trying to get a better vehicle that I would be able to afford and have a safer driving experience in for my three little ones, and now I just feel sick to my stomach everyday and do not even want to drive this vehicle. I'd like to start off by commenting that I rarely take the time to write online reviews. (In fact, this is the first car-related review I've ever written.) Our experience at Gurley Leep was so terribly the time to write online reviews. (In fact, this is the first car-related review I've ever written.) Our experience at Gurley Leep was so terribly awful, that I decided to take a few moments from my day off to write this negative (albeit very kind and forgiving) review. In short: My husband and I were on the market for a new car. We had taken the time to read several test-drive ratings, online articles, and purchasing guides, in order to decide (1) what car to buy and (2) what we were willing to (fairly) pay for that car. We are good simple people that stated our intentions and willingness to buy from the start, and drove a good distance to keep our scheduled appointment with the sales team. We experienced rude and condescending service, numerous bait-and-switch tactics, unfair and confusing pricing, sneaky add-on fees, and (unbelievably) aggressive mockery from Sales Manager Damon Donaldson. We took our business elsewhere, and happily purchased a 2012 Golf TDI from a very straightforward and honest (and completely different) dealership on Irving Park in Chicago instead. More
I bought a car from Gurly Leep almost 2 years ago, and was very unhappy with my customer service and decided I wouldn't go back. but recently I was wondering if possibly things have changed, I stopped in was very unhappy with my customer service and decided I wouldn't go back. but recently I was wondering if possibly things have changed, I stopped in to a sale going on to look and and need to express how wonderful I was treated the sales Rep was considerate of my needs and completely changed my mind about your company even though I'm not ready to purchase right now as long as he is working for the company I will go back, his name was Chris Rayl.
