I recently purchased a brand new, $71,000 Acura MDX A-Spec Advance f sales manager Aaron. He was great. Otherwise this would be a one star review. I recently purchased a brand new, $71,000 Acura MDX A-Spec Advance from Gillman. I put $14,000 down and have an 800+ credit score. While the vehicle itself is fantastic, the delivery experience and dealership management tactics were an absolute joke for a premium luxury brand. 1. The Careless Delivery (PDI Failures): The dealership completely dropped the ball on basic vehicle prep. They lost the second key to a $71k car and I had to sit around waiting while they scrambled to track it down in the service department. To make matters worse, they delivered the car with an empty windshield washer fluid reservoir, which triggered a low-fluid alert on my second day of ownership. Cheap, lazy prep. 2. Manipulative Financing Tactics by Management: The absolute worst part of the experience came from the dealership manager who handled my financing. Acura currently has top-tier promotional financing rates of 3.99%–4.99%. However, the moment I let it slip that I planned to pay the vehicle off in a few months, the manager jacked my interest rate up to 6.99%. He knew a quick payoff meant the dealership would lose their long-term bank kickback, so he manipulated the rate to force upfront profit out of my deal. When called out on it, he tried to buy my silence by offering me "3 years of free oil changes" if I didn't expose this behavior or leave a bad review. Giving a top-tier credit buyer a fake perk to hide rate manipulation is incredibly shady. Gillman might sell luxury cars, but management runs it like a low-tier, high-pressure used car lot. Buy the car, but finance somewhere else and check your fluid levels before you leave. More
