Mr. Heinrich, we have addressed your complaints and hope this helps clear things up. Please call if you have additional questioins. 1. EPA fuel economy statistics and real world fuel economy often differ by several miles per gallon.  The numbers that are recorded during the EPA's drive cycle and are done in a controlled setting.  Many factors -- such as, driving habits, speed, traffic conditions, summer/winter fuel blends, ambient temperature, altitude, number of occupants, additional vehicle equipment mounted to the roof, et cetera -- can effect fuel economy.    In Mr. Heinrich's case the vehicle was loaded with a large amount of luggage and goods when it was brought to the dealership and had a large cargo holding device mounted to the roof.  Adding additional weight to a vehicle and increasing frontal area and aerodynamic profile, thereby increasing the vehicle's coefficient of drag, will adversely affect fuel economy.  It is likely that a heavily loaded vehicle with a large roof mounted container driven at fast speeds will achieve poor fuel economy.   2. Mr. Heinrich's Sienna is equipped with two (2) separate cruise control systems, a dynamic laser-guided cruise control system and a conventional system.  The dynamic laser-guided cruise control system has the ability to set for both speed and following distance to the vehicle you are following; the system can change throttle application and apply the brakes to maintain the desired following distance or speed.   If a customer chooses to use the dynamic laser-guided cruise control system and sets the system's speed faster than the speed of the vehicle that s/he is following or sets a short following distance the dynamic laser-guided system will intervene, by way of multiple vehicle systems -- including the brakes -- to prevent potential accidents.  Setting a very close following distance or setting a speed faster than the vehicle you are following can adversely affect brake wear and fuel economy.  Any time that abrupt adjustments must be made to the throttle or brakes the fuel economy is reduced.  Faster speeds will increase aerodynamic drag exponentially, thereby reducing fuel economy; moreover, additional weight will generate much more heat when braking and wear the brakes faster.   3. It is normal to see a reduction in fuel economy if the vehicle is heavily loaded down, aerodynamically challenged and the laser-guided cruise control is set to fast speeds or very close following distances.  When following a slower moving vehicle the customer should consider using the conventional cruise control system, lowering the speed or following distance to which the laser-guided system is set or manually controlling the vehicle's speed.  Any of these three alternatives will result in improved fuel economy when compared to incorrect use of the laser guided system.  This was explained to Mr. Heinrich.   4. The front rotors were replaced on Mr. Heinrich's vehicle not the calipers.  The front pads rotors were replaced (not "ground down") as the bill indicates.  The calipers were never replaced, nor was any work done to the calipers -- other then the installation of new brake pads.  All work that Mr. Heinrich was charged for was performed.
