Overall, I had a good experience with the Service Department. Because I'm from out of town, I arrived an hour early, but they were still willing to get my vehicle serviced right away. Also, because I had to wait at the dealership until the service was completed, it took a couple of hours longer than expected for my vehicle to be ready. However, I don't mind waiting if it means that a tech is going to spend extra time ensuring that my vehicle is up to par. The alignment on my Touareg is definitely better, so I appreciated the extra time and effort; not to mention, because of the extra time that I had to wait Melissa gave me a future discount to use for an oil change. The reason why I've rated this particular visit to Gene Messer Volkswagen with 4 stars is because, while I was waiting for the service on my Touareg, I had an important question to ask the Parts Department about a 2015 Jetta TDI that I own. The first time that I approached the counter, I waited there for a good 15 minutes, and the man working there never acknowledged my presence, so I walked away. About an hour later, I returned to the Parts Department and another man was also working behind the counter, so this time I approached him. The man was texting on his phone and looking at his computer, and I waited for about 5 minutes for him to acknowledge me. He finally did so and said that he'd help me as soon as he could log into his computer. Five minutes later, he finally asked me what I needed, and I asked him about a very particular part that I needed for my 2015 Jetta, and I even showed it to him on my phone. The man dismissed the part that I was showing him, and he said that if I didn't have the actual part with me, then it would be impossible for him to find it. I asked him if anyone else in Lubbock had the part that I needed, and he did give me a suggestion of a place to check. Altogether, I wasn't impressed by the Parts Department; it seemed as though the two men there were interested at all in interacting with the general public, nor putting forth any extra effort to help me find the part that I needed. Amanda cares a lot about her job in the service department and it showed with her careful attention the details I specified in my diagnosis when turning in my vehicle to GMV. Melissa needs to reassess her priorities while at work and take ample time-off to make sure they’re aligned with GMV. The junior salespersons should anticipate like Amanda customer interest before being required to do so by the sales manager. The ID Buzz from Midland/Odessa need to be cleaned and smells like a wet dog and will not be appealing to families with a more sensitive nose. The cleaning staff could improve on their cleaning abilities when diligently working in the customer lounge area’s couches. More
