Terrible, terrible place. I planned on getting my first car here at Gene Messer Hyundai in Lubbock Texas, and there’s been nothing but delays in getting the car, and extra fee I planned on getting my first car here at Gene Messer Hyundai in Lubbock Texas, and there’s been nothing but delays in getting the car, and extra fees added into my deal. I couldn’t get any of the signatures from my co-signer done online so this in turn prolonged the process by over two weeks. This wasn’t an issue at Nissan when my older sister got her first car. Also, I had a base plan of 16k but it went up to 24k due to Geoff Schramme and Ayo Ayodele sales tactics to steal money out of me and my family. My sister is a nurse and she offered to be a co-signer, and she has excellent credit- but despite this the dealership still wants to charge me a high 11% in interest because my credit and job isn’t up to standards (we had agreed to a much lower interest rate but for some reason they changed it to 11% and brought up that excuse). My credit shouldn’t be in question due to my sister being co-signer and my job shouldn’t be in question due to my father accepting to make all the payments. I have literally never heard this at any other dealerships, from anyone in my family or friends group. Also, I was clearly explained that the protection services/ plan didn’t come as additional charges (and since this is my first car I didn’t know any better)- so I accepted and now it looks like I can’t back out of it. So my father is obviously not willing to pay $530 per month for 60 months for a car that’s meant to be cheap, the Hyundai Accent. Might as well get a Tesla for $480/ month. The monthly charge or bill was meant to be in the $300s- low $400s. I don’t recommend this place, look somewhere else if you want a professional experience (we couldn’t even get a call back from Schramme last Saturday) and if you don’t want to lose money. My father will now lose $1,000 because he plans to back out of the deal and obviously the down payment can’t be refunded. More

I took my vehicle to Gene Messer Hyundai for recall work on February 25, 2022, after setting up an appointment back on February 22. The vehicle was left with the dealership to correct a valve cover gasket i on February 25, 2022, after setting up an appointment back on February 22. The vehicle was left with the dealership to correct a valve cover gasket issue that affected the alternator as well, Recall 121. After several days, I called and was told the recall work was complete and I could pick up my vehicle on March 2nd, so I went and picked up my vehicle. As I drove home, the oil lamp light was on the dash and the vehicle began smoking. As soon as I arrived home after a short drive, I opened the hood and noticed the engine cover was not on the vehicle, the car was smoking where the repair work was to be completed, the oil lamp light was still on, and the oil dipstick was broken when I tried to check the oil. I immediately called the service department and told them of the issues and was told to call the manager back in the morning. After speaking to the manager, they sent 2 people to come get the vehicle because I told him I did not feel it was safe to drive it back to the dealership. Later that day the Service Manager called and said when they tried to fix the issues, the engine seized up and the car was no longer drivable. He stated in a call a few days later on March 8th that Hyundai would not fix the vehicle due to the failure of being out of warranty caused by the time in service and mileage of the vehicle. He also stated they do not have a engine in stock nationwide at his supplier to see what the cost would be for me to have the vehicle fixed. They did not offer any assistance to fix the vehicle that became undrivable while in their possession. Hyundai issued the recall in November 2020 and sent several notices that a fix was pending with the final notice sent 9/7/21 stating Veracruz owners could now schedule work for the recall, which I did but the dealership forgot to order the parts. The vehicle should have never been released because the work was not completed by the technician. More

Everyone was very helpful and patient with me. I wasn't expecting to purchase a car , I only went to look at their inventory. Ha ha! Even though I didn't purchase from them, I will definitely recommend and potential beyond efforts that was put into finding what I was looking for.
