I was emailed a coupon for "$48. 99 oil and filter change". When I arrived at dealer service center for my appointment, I was told "we'll take $48.99 off the total price". I pointed out that was not the same thing and that I was expecting to pay $48.99 + tax. After the work was completed, my bill was $68. I again showed the coupon and said I was expecting to pay $48.99 + tax ($53.03 by my calculation). The service representative was VERY tense and AGREED that is what the coupon said, but insisted that is not how the pricing works. When I asked if he had authority to change it, he was VERY tense, tossed his papers into the desk, shook his head very dismissively (think eye roll), said "I'm just gonna get my manager" and left. Five minutes later, he returned and said only "$56". Since this was close to what I was expecting, I handed him my credit card. After signing a bill for $56.29, he silently handed my my card and keys and I left. When I checked my visa charge later, I notice I was charged $57.98. The entire process, all of it, was ridiculous. If the dealership intends to offer a $48.99 discount, the coupon they send should say $48.99 OFF the total price. As is, it did not say that. It says very clearly $48.99 oil and filter change". And why the bill was $57.98 instead of $48.99 + tax??? Beyond me. RIDICULOUS, all of it. More
