I dealt with Ken Wylie, who I find to be a very reputable sales person who worked extremely hard to find the right car for my needs and wants. He worked tirelessly to help me through the process of selection, test drive, financing, and finalizing the deal. He is someone I trust and have recommended him to family and friends over the years. I trust Flood Ford and will return to them in the future for my automotive needs. More

After putting down a small deposit, Mike held the car for me for over a week and 3 missed pick-ups. The used car was in great shape when I picked it up...as clean as any new car I have ever bought. This was a great experience. More

The dealership had listed the vehicle on several websites, with each listing very accurate and full of information. Reaching out to them was easy, and every person I spoke with (from reception to sales, finance, and the service department) was courteous and eager to help. Jim showed me several cars similar to the one I had originally inquired about, which helped me weigh my options. He and his manager went over financing options with me in a way that was easy to understand for a first-time buyer. After my initial visit, Jim stayed in contact and was easy to reach at all hours of the day to provide any additional information I needed. When I did finally decide to purchase the vehicle we had initially discussed, Jim and Paulette on the finance team worked with me to iron out the sale details and get through all the paperwork. My schedule was not very forgiving, but the whole team went the distance to make sure I understood my options for features and financing, signed the necessary documents, and drove away in a time frame that worked for me. Incredibly Positive Experience in all areas! I walked into Flood looking for a 2014 Escape. I had been researching them for months (literally). I knew what I wanted for options and colors, and I had a pretty good idea of where I would be payment-wise based on these options. I had been a customer of a Cranston Ford dealer since 1998, having leased 6 vehicles over that time period. (My wife having leased a handful from the, too). As my latest lease was drawing to a close, I visited my long time salesman up the road and told him what I wanted and what I thought would be a (better than) fair price. Surprisingly, they had a limited selection to choose from on their lot. However, to be fair, they have multiple locations throughout RI, MA, and CT, so understandably some of their inventory was off-site. I’m a guy who wants to see (and drive) the vehicle that I might be buying in person, so I was a little disappointed. They did not immediately offer to bring in the Escape with the options that I wanted and seemed to coax me towards one that was already on the lot, which I guess is understandable. (This is also assuming that they had an Escape with the options I wanted at a different location). Now – I know that when you’re buying a new car you’ve got to “play the game”, as my wife would say. But I don’t really like playing these types of games. I’d like to think that I’m a man of integrity and honor. Maybe I’m old school, and for the sake of sounding corny, my word is true and a handshake means it’s carved in stone. That being said, the initial price offered by the other guy was more than $100/month higher than what I thought would have been a GREAT monthly price. OK – time to dance. I don’t like dancing and I’m not good at it. “Come on”, I said, “That’s insane.” His reply was that there was not much room to move. Mind you, I had done my homework and had a good idea of what the price should be. With a less expensive vehicle, the price would have dropped about $20 - $30/month (which was still way too much and didn't have the options that I wanted). If I put more money down, without breaking the bank or making a really bad decision, I could get another $40 or so off of the monthly payment. Well – OK – but then I’m getting into a more stripped down vehicle and I’m still above where I’d like to be. After weeks of haggling and considering other vehicles in their portfolio, their Sales Manager asked where I wanted to be. When I told him, he shook his head, looked me in the eye and said, “We just can’t get there.” My response was that I’ve then got to weigh my options. I reluctantly used the “F” word in from of the salesman and sales manager. Yup – I said, “I might have to go see what Flood has to offer.” I excused myself and went home to ponder my situation. The very next day, ironically, I had the afternoon of 3/17 off from work (thanks to jury duty) and went to visit Flood in EG. I was immediately impressed by the selection of Escape’s on their lot. While looking at the vehicles on the lot, Freddie Brooks zoomed towards me on a golf cart and offered his assistance. I told him that I was looking at what they had on the lot and would come up to see him after I’d taken some notes on their inventory. Positive point #2 – I was not pressured by Freddie and he didn't linger around waiting to strike. I envisioned the shiny green fly at the picnic, but Freddie moved right along and left me to investigate. After finding a suitable (but not perfect) vehicle, I walked into the show room and asked for Freddie. He came over and introduced himself. Positive point #3 – the man knows how to dress! He asked how he could help and I told him what I was looking for and the ballpark where I wanted to be with my monthly payments. I did not tell Freddie that I had already been shopping with the competition. He looked up the stock number of the Escape that I was most interested in, excused himself to confer with Dave Cathey (his Sales Manager), and returned with a price. Flood’s price was already better than the competition, but still a little out of my comfort zone. Again, the dance… Freddie and I discussed what I really wanted for options and he jumped into Flood’s inventory and found an Escape in Narragansett with everything that I wanted and more (I didn’t need the Titanium Tech Package). Freddie offered that they could have that Escape in EG the next day for me to look at – Positive point #4. We again discussed where I wanted to be financially. We discussed the mileage overage on my existing lease and the amount of out-of-pocket cash that I was willing to pay. Freddie again spoke with Dave and came back with an attractive offer. I again mentioned my desire to be at a certain monthly payment and that I really didn’t need the Tech Pkg. Freddie said, “I think I can get you there, in this vehicle with the better options. Would you be interested?” Needless to say, I was doubtful. Freddie cut to the chase and suggested that we both go talk to Dave to avoid all of the back-and-forth. Wow – that’s was great! Positive point #5 – let’s stop the shenanigans and get down to it. We went into Dave’s office and made introductions. Dave confirmed where I wanted to be, punched something top secret into his computer, grimaced a little, jotted some numbers down on paper, and then handed me the details. Almost exactly where I wanted to be for what I thought was a GREAT deal for me, for an Escape that offered more than I wanted, needed, or expected. I wanted to check Dave’s temperature and pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. Could this be real? No BS??? Where do I sign??? I just wanted to confirm with the wife that I could pull the trigger on this so Dave and Freddie told me to sleep on it and get back to them. I was also in the process of closing on a mortgage re-fi and Dave and Freddie were more than understanding and accommodating regarding the potential delays. I went home, talked to the boss, and made my decision. There was no way that I was not buying this vehicle from Flood. I contacted my former salesman from the other Ford dealership and dropped the bomb on him. Needless to say, he was shocked and surprised and offered to do ANYTHING to retain my business. I gave him the VIN from the Escape at Flood and told him exactly what the offer was. He came back the next day with an Escape that had a higher sticker price (a few more options) than Flood’s and offered it to me at the same price as Flood had offered. I politely declined his offer because I was not too fond of the color, but most importantly because I was perturbed (actually insulted and quite pissed) that suddenly they could now put me into an Escape that had a sticker price $4,000 more expensive than the previous Escape that I had discussed with them the week before at the same price that Flood had offered, especially after having previously told me point-blank that “We just can’t get there.” The song is over. I’ve left the dance floor. Have they become too big for their britches? Have they become complacent? They certainly seem like they had taken me for granted. Instead of being treated like a valuable customer after 16 years of steady and loyal business, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Closing the deal and signing all of the paperwork with John Zito was a simple, easy, quick, thoroughly explained, and enjoyable experience. The man knows his stuff! Freddie and Dave were AWESOME! They could not have been more helpful, accommodating, and cooperative. They clearly wanted and valued my business. I could not possibly be happier with my decision to shop at Flood Ford. I look forward to a long relationship! More
