My a/c compressor went bad on my way home from work. I called the dealership and asked if they could just take a look and verify the problem. After some misunderstanding as to what I wanted done, Joe Murr called the dealership and asked if they could just take a look and verify the problem. He confirmed it was an a/c problem and in a matter of just over 2 hours my compressor was replaced and I was on my way home. He also told me about a recall issue and got me set up to deal with that issue. That was over and above service. More

I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk diesel at Firkins in Bradenton, FL. I was talked into a four oil change pre-buy offer; now being told it "expires" based on time rather than the four 'occasio Firkins in Bradenton, FL. I was talked into a four oil change pre-buy offer; now being told it "expires" based on time rather than the four 'occasions' I was sold on - not good since I am not a high mileage driver. During oil change number two a couple months ago I was told there was a recall on the EGR Cooler but they didn't have the parts so could not do it during that service session. Got the official notice from Jeep corporate on the "Important Safety Recall" in the mail several weeks later. I phoned Firkins, being passed through three different phone forwards (at least they were live people). At the Service Department, number two says "Oh yeah, that recall will take a while for you to schedule because we can only get one of those parts per month and you are looking at about seven months out"; you need to talk to the Parts Department (no response to my question of why hadn't it been ordered when I was in last time and the part wasn't in stock). Number three is the Parts department who attempts to get me off the phone by saying "I need the VIN" with a tone like ... surely you don't have it; but I did. Then I was told "Oh, that's really not a recall 'yet', it's just an advanced notice of a recall that is coming." I indicated that "Well, that is certainly NOT how the "Important Safety Recall" from Jeep headquarters is worded." At that point I was basically totally blown off since they wouldn't order a part of a 'non-existent' 'pending' recall. So I indicated I would, therefore, make my next phone call to the NTSB to assure they are aware that the notification of recall by Jeep Corporate may NOT be satisfying the intent of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act referenced in the first line of the "Important Safety Recall" from Jeep headquarters.
