Service center is incompetent. Needed a/c diagnostic. Soonest appointment was 4 weeks later! Go in. Dealership had replaced the compressor 23,000 miles prior. Their diagnostic was Needed a/c diagnostic. Soonest appointment was 4 weeks later! Go in. Dealership had replaced the compressor 23,000 miles prior. Their diagnostic was "we need to throw some parts at it. There is a clog in the low pressure system. We do not know. Recommend we start throwing parts at it beginning with the low pressure line for $1,700." This is not diagnostic! They charged $200! I left. I looked at the Kia manual. There was specific information for testing everything, and if I had the computer they have, I would have known exactly what was wrong immediately. Instead, I spend a few hours and $80 on parts/freon and repaired it myself. It was NOT a clog. It was the electronic control valve. The shop's GDS would have identified this if they would have followed Kia's service manual. More
