I was shocked by rudeness of the owner and every one I had a misfortune to meet there. If you are set on Subaru go to Smithtown. More
I went to Metric Subaru for a pre-purchase inspection on a used car I was considering purchasing. The shop performed a 27-point full service inspection and used car check, and wrote that, besides needing ne a used car I was considering purchasing. The shop performed a 27-point full service inspection and used car check, and wrote that, besides needing new valve cover gaskets (as the previous owner had informed me), and a "slight leak" from the front timing cover, the car "checked out ok for a 14 year old vehicle." I purchased the car and took it to my mechanic for the gaskets. He put it up on the lift and showed me ripped, badly leaking steering rack boots, fluid all over the place, half the skidplate broken off and missing, a leaking radiator, and other issues. These issues were glaringly obvious even to me as a layman. The total repair estimate (not including valve cover gaskets) is approximately $2000. I called the service manager today and his attitude was essentially, "Too bad." If the Subaru mechanic put the car on the lift, there's no way he could have missed these things. Either he never performed the check, is grossly incompetent, or is dishonest. Bottom line: Bring your business somewhere else. More
Even though I bought my WRX from Thomas Dodge/Subaru, everyone at Metric treats me with respect and care as if I bought from them. I have been servicing my WRX here since 2003. They are attentive and k everyone at Metric treats me with respect and care as if I bought from them. I have been servicing my WRX here since 2003. They are attentive and knowledgeable to all things Subaru, whereas Thomas Dodge/Subaru is Dodge first and completely clueless to Subaru. For example, I had a stock option dashboard gauge package which had terrible lighting on one of the gauges and there was a TSB on the issue. I was told there was no problem at the other dealer. I came to Metric and Dave knew exactly what I was talking about and had the replacement part shipped and installed the next day, no charge. Another example. I have the Geico Mechanical breakdown insurance which is a pain for most shops to have to deal with because an adjuster has to come out for any claims, but Metric never complains and knows exactly how to deal with them and they are very communicative during the whole process which can take days, thanks to Richie, Mary, and previously Lisa. With that insurance, I have had at least 3 claims over the last 10 years (I'm grandfathered into unlimited miles/years) including engine, turbo and other parts replaced and covered. I have not lived on Long Island for the past 6 years, but I still travel over 50 miles from Westchester county, over the Whitestone Bridge all the way to Huntington, even for an oil change. These guys are honest, hard working, and knowledgeable. A plus is that their prices are also fair. Sure you can find an independent mechanic that may be cheaper, but as far as dealer service, this is the cheapest. (Oil change for $15 if I bring my own oil...) By contrast, when I bring my Acura, Mercedes or Honda to the dealer, I always leave with a bill from $150-400 for oil changes plus fluid and point "checks". This place is a gem and I will continue to go to them as long as gas prices stay under $10 per gallon. More
I bought a used Forester from them. The car had a little chip in the windshield and a scratch on the bumper. They told me that they would touch up the paint and have the windshield repaired, that they would chip in the windshield and a scratch on the bumper. They told me that they would touch up the paint and have the windshield repaired, that they would even send someone to me to fix the windshield. My wife brought the car in to have these items fixed, they charged her for the touch up paint and said there was nothing they could do with the windshield, that it had already been repaired and it would not get any better. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They were very nice until after the sale,.......buyer beware. More
I am a regular customer having bought 2 other Subaru cars and for years having all my service done at this dealer. Vinnie was our salesman and he was unhelpful and very nasty to both my husband and myself. I and for years having all my service done at this dealer. Vinnie was our salesman and he was unhelpful and very nasty to both my husband and myself. I was given a price that was a lot higher than any other dealer. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!! I was almost not going to switch brands of cars. However, Riverhead Subaru really came through for us as far as price and serive!! More
Rich is a sincere and competent sales associate. After I selected my on-site vehicle (2012 Impreza), we took it for a test drive. While I drove the car, he did not barrage me with sales and feature data as several other manufacturer sales reps have. He simply answered my questions in a complete and easy manner than volunteered info he thought appropriate. He was courteous, fair, and efficient during the drive then in coming to terms with my purchase. We settled on a "good" price. After a downpayment, he called to keep us posted as to insurance cards, status of the vehicle, etc. When we picked up the car, he gave a thorough and patient, detailed explanation on how to operate the car's features. We (my wife and I) are very happy with the car as well as our experience with Rich Ross at Metric Subaru. (I might note that we did extensive online research on the 2012 Impreza and visited at least three Subaru dealers before selecting Metric. We were fairly set on the Impreza since we discovered the new features being introduced in the 2012 model. Seeking AWD, and good fuel economy, we compared it to the Nissan Juke, the Mini Countryman, and a CPI Lexus IS-250 and visited corresponding dealerships. All-in-all, the 2012 Impreza seemed to be the best value for our needs. The trick was finding a Subaru dealer we were really comfortable with—in our case, that was Metric, and Rich Ross represents them well.) More
I had an excellent experience with Vinny at Metric Subaru. He knows his cars very well, and I felt that the price agreed upon was very fair. Because of my experience there, I am a Subaru fan for life Subaru. He knows his cars very well, and I felt that the price agreed upon was very fair. Because of my experience there, I am a Subaru fan for life -- it just doesn't make sense for me to go to another brand when the experience at Metric Subaru was so good. Vinny is the best salesperson I have encountered, bar none. We have bought 4 cars from him in the past year for ourselves or friends, so we know from experience! He also can be trusted, a rarity these days. More
