His upbeat, happy disposition put me at ease and kept a smile on my face even under the mask. He seemed knowledgeable and versed in the cars we were looking at which is super helpful for me. Said was very friendly. He explained everything in detail what to expect. He let me test drive the truck. Bait and Switch Dealership I went there to look at a car that they advertised on autotrader.com. The car was priced at $24,000 which was a fair price according to NADA valu I went there to look at a car that they advertised on autotrader.com. The car was priced at $24,000 which was a fair price according to NADA values on their ad page and I agreed with that price after searching for this type of car for months. After test driving the car, I liked it and told the salesman that I would like to buy it. Salesman says something to the effect of "The price is $27,000 because you don't have a trade-in, but I imagine you want to pay the $24,000?" I replied yes and he went off to talk to the manager. He comes back with financing plans with a sales price of $27,000. I told him I am not paying a penny over $24,000 for the car; the advertised price and a fair market value. Then the sales manager comes over and tells he to "Work with him." on the price. I said I would not and promptly left. The above is a classic "Bait and Switch" scenario that they pulled on me. If you search for "Bait and Switch", you will see what these guys did. Don't be fooled by this tactic as it is in use at many dealerships. They get you to believe the advertised price isn't "for you" for some reason - oftentimes they use a "wholesale" price as the reason as well - and tell you that you have to pay a higher price. In my case it was because I had no trade-in. Be very careful if you patronize this dealer as they are using sales methods designed to take advantage of you. More
