Drove 3hrs to McDavid Honda b/c they stated "we got the car you're looking for". Wanted a 2013 Honda Odyssey and called Jose the day before to ensure our numbers were close before I made the drive and the car you're looking for". Wanted a 2013 Honda Odyssey and called Jose the day before to ensure our numbers were close before I made the drive and wasted everyone's time. Austin and Albert said just come on down, it would be no problem. Well, I believed them. Got there and the games started. Started throwing numbers back and forth. Then they had to bring another guy out to talk to us. Why do they do that? Can't one guy cover this deal. Who's the magic guy behind the curtain that knows all the secret numbers and if he's the guy I eventually need to talk to, why am I wasting my time with 2-3 guys below him? These guys have no authority to do anything but run my number around the dealer showroom like overpriced carrier pigeons. Then they asked me to Take it to Carmax for get a quote to see how my trade in was worth. Wait a minute, don't you do that? They do but they wanted a "second qoute". So you're telling me you don't trust your guys? Why should I run all over town. But I did. Waited for a while at the Carmax and just got sick and tired, so we went back and offered them a fair value for the 2013 Honda ($25,000 plus our trade) and they still wanted to suck out every last penny. Got tired of the games and left. Bought a 2013 the next day at another dealer for exactly what I offered them. What a bunch of typical car salesman yahoos these guys are. Toolbags. More
I have always had a great experience with oil changes and the body shop. However, in my opinion, Michael Sawin is an outstanding employee and an asset to your dealership. My husband and I have purchased at l the body shop. However, in my opinion, Michael Sawin is an outstanding employee and an asset to your dealership. My husband and I have purchased at least 10 vehicles from Michael over the past 20 years and have always been treated exceptionally well. He always makes time for us and its nice to know we can count on him when we need our next vehicle. I would not even consider going elsewhere to purhase a vehicle. He makes purchasing a vehicle a pleasant and positive experience. More
BUYERS BEWARE OF LEA GIBSON AND MCDAVID HONDA OF IRVING. I wish someone would have warned me before making my purchase. They could care less about you and only want your money to steal it from you. You agre I wish someone would have warned me before making my purchase. They could care less about you and only want your money to steal it from you. You agree on terms and prices with a "pencil contract" but when you go to sign the papers in finance, they charge you more ($2000 more) than you agreed upon for the car and adjust things without your knowledge but they work the numbers so it is not easy to figure out in the paperwork without an attorney. They like to bait and switch and then tell you they only made $50 on the car so you got a great deal. Some of the Google reviews posted are exact representations of how they like to do business based on my first hand experience. They want you to commit to buying a car and put it in writing but they don't understand math very well. Paying a lower price for the car equals a lower monthly payment keeping everything within budget. Seems simple but I couldn't make Lea understand. They cannot even do you the decency of returning your call and they lie if they don't want to talk to you. In fact, it took 8 calls before I was able to get in touch with Lea concerning my issue. He claimed he was too busy working. Guess what Lea, your job was to call me back and to give me a wonderful experience. I will not spend another penny here. I will have my warranty repairs done at McDavid in Irving but I will have everything else done elsewhere (maybe McKinney Honda). It's no wonder why they are rated C with the BBB. Highly disappointed with my purchasing experience and I hope others do not have the same experience. Very Disappointed!! More

If you've been a smart consumer and finished all your internet research, David McDavid is the place to come for an upfront and honest car pricing experience. Lea Gibson offered outstanding customer care internet research, David McDavid is the place to come for an upfront and honest car pricing experience. Lea Gibson offered outstanding customer care the moment we stepped onto the property. He listened deeply to our needs, then offered options we had not considered that elegantly met our expectations. If you select this dealership, go to directly to Lea, you will be pleased with his efficient, warm, and focused service tailored to your needs. Be forewarned, once you get past Lea in the process, you may miss his customer-centric approach. The staff member offering the extended warranty/service sales pitch takes an entirely different tactic, steamrolling his advice over your needs in the aggressive pitch of a hard sell. After such a positive selection and car pricing experience, it left us a bit jarred deflecting these hard-pushing antics. It almost transformed our opinion into a negative impression of the overall dealership. However, we remain immensely pleased with the price of the car and Lea's exceptional service, hence the good overall rating. Two quality missteps occurred that prevent the top-tier rating. The first was an initial inaccuracy in state tax rate when calculating the price. We are moving to Texas and they initially calculated based on our previous state tax rate (which is lower than Texas) and had to revise to a slightly higher figure. This was an honest mistake, the pricing manager apologized deeply, and we accepted it. The second quality issue was that the car was not ready for pickup when scheduled. The wait was less than 30 minutes, and pleasant, but not commensurate with expectations. Overall, the buying experience at David McDavid resulted in a good price, the paperwork was fairly painless once past the hard sell warranty/service plans, and the attention to caring detail from Lea was top-notch. I went in for A-1 service on leased Civic HF. I was greeted quickly, written up, and advised of the time it would take. Previous experiences had not gone so well, But Mr. Buddy Mays has returned as the greeted quickly, written up, and advised of the time it would take. The trouble began when the sales associate who had been adeptly helping us appealed for help from a more senior sales manager, and then our sales experience went downhill fast. The more senior manager (Ji adeptly helping us appealed for help from a more senior sales manager, and then our sales experience went downhill fast. The more senior manager (Jim Spaulding) threw book at us in terms of stereotypical, trite "sales-guy" sayings; for example, that in trying to negotiate for the lowest possible fair price we were "taking food out of his children's mouths", and several other sales professionals (most notably Michael Swain) jumped in and offered unsolicited advice along the lines of "I've worked here for 20 years and I couldn't buy it at that price". None of these pressure tactics were helpful in allowing us to make a level-headed, logical decision about how to spend such a significant amount of our money. Tactics like "we're actually losing money on this deal" are frankly insulting to our intelligence. We all know that there is SOME incentive for you to sell us the car at the price you offer (be it actual profit on the sale or volume bonuses from Honda), otherwise you simply wouldn't sell it to us. I resent your sales professionals being less than forthright about exactly how a price is arrived at and how you are incentivized in the process - information that other dealerships shared with us freely. We understand the dealer has a margin somewhere, and that's why I say we wanted to arrive at the lowest fair price for the vehicle. Jim was extremely reticent to use the calculator sitting on his desk to simply add TTL for us; instead, he was content to jot down numbers randomly on a post-it note, leaving us to wonder where they came from and what they did and did not include. The irony of the situation is that David McDavid Honda has the nerve to advertise their prices as "no hassle". The final insult of the day was being informed that the deal the sales professionals freely offered us was "now off the table" and then the floor salesman who had been helping us previously (who at least had the good grace to look uncomfortable about it) politely showed us the door. That action is so thoroughly baffling to me...worst case scenario for them we would have politely declined their offer and left the dealership. I can't think of a logical reason we were shown the door while deep in the process of seriously considering whether to spend a large sum of money with the dealership. More
