I purchased a 2014 BMW X1 from this dealership on December 27. The vehicle was sold “as-is.” On January 9 — just 13 days later — the engine catastrophically failed. The cost to install a used replacement engine is approximately $8,000 ($3,000 for the engine and roughly $5,000 in labor). When I contacted the dealership, I was told the vehicle was sold “as-is.” While I understand that term, a total engine failure less than two weeks after purchase raises serious concerns about the vehicle’s condition at the time of sale. I attempted to follow up to discuss the matter further and seek a reasonable resolution. No remediation or accommodation was offered. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage prospective buyers to think carefully before purchasing from a dealer that will not even consider reasonable remediation when a major mechanical failure occurs almost immediately after sale. I am currently evaluating my legal options. I'm alerting you that this Seller sold a vehicle that had a catastrophic engine failure within two weeks of sale. We drove the vehicle about 30 miles prior to the failure. Draw your own conclusions and just be aware. READ THE BAD REVIEWS. The good reviews pretty much state they are nice folks... and they are. But what you care about is the service and treatment after the sale. How they run their business. Read those bad reviews and look for the common theme. Decent cars that have been properly vetted by their on-site mechanics don't typically fail in a matter of weeks or days. I only had time for a short inspection as I can't have the car for days just to get it inspected. But they had the car for much longer and could have checked it out. My bad for not buying from a dealer who certifies their vehicles and provides some sort of even short-term warrantee. I thought I'd give them a try because "they are nice folks", well you know the rest of the story. Don't make your decision based on them being nice - to lessen your risk, I wouldn't don't buy your vehicle at places like this no matter how good a deal it seems unless they certify their pre-owned vehicles. Shady~ put grease on T-rod to keep it from squeaking. They did allow us to take to a mechanic where they found that both wheel bearings need replaced ($1200) and the lower T-rod needs to be replaced. ($ They did allow us to take to a mechanic where they found that both wheel bearings need replaced ($1200) and the lower T-rod needs to be replaced. ($300). "The manager" didn't seem to acknowledge that these were repairs that needed immediate action. WHAT?? He said he would (like he was doing us a favor) take $500 off to take "broken" car or that he could possibly (if he had time) get his repair guys to fix it. He did not want to sell as a car, so we can take our $1000 to another place and help that place. I cannot trust that his "repair" guy won't just throw some grease on it and call it day! BUYERS BEWARDE! Get a mechanic to look at a car ~ $100 is worth it instead of buying a LEMON! More
I would buy from this car dealership again. Good car for a restart, if you want to get away from car payments and buy a car outright. The place I went to, Nas Auto Sales over in Virginia Beach. Good car for a restart, if you want to get away from car payments and buy a car outright. The place I went to, Nas Auto Sales over in Virginia Beach. The owner she let me drive the car to get money orders to pay for the car. I had the car like all day and she was very welcoming in letting me take care of business to walk away with the car. I would recommend her and I will buy more cars from her in the future. Definitely a sleeper in the Virginia Beach area. More
