We were planning on driving our Florida car (2011 Fiesta) leave it in West Virginia and buy another car when we returned. I was driving past Volvo of Clearwater and saw a Volvo wagon with a very appealing price, so I decided to check it out. I have always wanted to buy a Volvo but couldn't justify buying a new one because of the little driving we do in Florida (15K on my Fiesta which I bought new). The car turned out to be a 2002 V70 with very low mileage and in very nice condition for a 12 year old car. They showed me the car fax which showed two owners, one a lease when it was new and then sold later by Volvo of Clearwater, so they were very familiar with this car. It appeared to be well maintained but showed some of the effects of the sun from being in Florida. Took the car for a test drive with William, our salesman, and drove over to my house to show my wife. She liked the car and her ability to access the passing seat. So, I changed my mind and deiced to make this Volvo my West Virginia car. The sales process was very fast as I paid cash and was home with a Florida licensed 2002 Volvo in couple hours. The trip up north followed in a few days, the Volvo drove great and had much more power than the Ford and had cruise which he Ford didn't. We had real bad weather up I-95 but the car ran great, I kept track of my mileage and got 35 mpg on the trip up and am now getting 25 mpg in local WV traffic with few Interstate miles. I'm very happy I bought this car and now my WV car will be this Volvo. Too bad I won't be able to see how it handles snow, now that I think about it I'm happy I won't be able to do that. Happy with the car so far and looks sharp and impressed my daughter who now want to trade her VW for a Volvo! More

My expererience with Volvo of Clearwater This was my first experience with Volvo of Clearwater and it was a good one. My husband has always been the one to purchase our vehicles; but I wanted This was my first experience with Volvo of Clearwater and it was a good one. My husband has always been the one to purchase our vehicles; but I wanted to have more input in the car I would be driving. Julio was very patient and let me do lots of test drives, trying out different vehicles. The vehicle I came in to see which I had seen on the internet got sold while I was out doing a test drive in it. I met the young man who came in with a check while I was out with the car. Julio was very apologetic but immediately went into action to show me other vehicles. I am very happy with the vehicle I purchased. The process was efficient but thorough. I recommend this dealership and would send my friends and family here. More

Shady, slick used car tactics. If you HAVE to buy a car there, I recommend you don't, take it to get checked out by someone else BEFORE you do. The above was my original post, after which the dealer contacted me through this site, we exchanged a communications, but in the end we were not able to agree. Here is my first email to them sent at approx. 7:30AM: I wanted to reach out this morning. We have a couple of issues with the car. The radio display started going out this weekend and the rear tires are almost bald. It was hard to see them during delivery because it was raining, so when I looked at the front ones I assumed the rear would be in similar condition. What can you do to help us? I never expected them to replace the tires or radio, but was asking for some help since it was so soon after the purchase. I didn’t receive a response until 3:00 PM. Approx. 7 ½ hours. I was starting to think they were going to just ignore my email, feeling really shady at this point. His response recommended that I take the car to a BMW dealer and have the radio looked at, and went on to explain that the tires during the inspection were noted as getting closed to replacement time but not necessary yet. In the same email response then asked me to call the lender to expedite their payment. The inspection report was inaccurate, because they are almost completely bald. I advised I was going notify the lender of the inaccuracies. At this point I felt like I was at a shade tree, slick used car dealer. I was hoping that they would at least make some sort of good faith gesture. They didn’t ask me to bring it by to look at it, no discount on new tire purchase, nothing. I then added my review here. The dealer responded with what sounded like a canned response beginning touting their “100% Diligence and Professionalism” while maintaining that some customers have unattainable requests. He commented that I requested they replace the tires 2 weeks after purchase, and when he said no I called them shady because of that and that no part of the transaction was shady. He also added that he believed that the review was not fair. I responded that I would not expect them to replace the tires for free; it is after all, a used car. I was only hoping for some help with the items I advised them of. I went on to say: “Rather than offer ANYTHING, you immediately dismissed both without an offer of good faith help, and then in the same email, asked ME for a favor to help expedite the payment from the lender. As if to say, "Sorry, as is. Now can you make sure I get paid?". In my opinion, the transaction does feel shady, it feels like once the car was off the lot you were done with it. Throughout our communications he continuously refers the transaction not being shady. He fails to realize that there is so much more to the customer relationship than just the transaction. The transaction on its own wasn’t shady; the manner of dealing with customers after they have the transaction is the issue here which is why I made the recommendation that I did. I stand by my opinion of the whole experience, which is so much more than the transaction itself. More
I really enjoyed the low key sales experience, everyone seemed more focused on explaining the features, particularly the safety features of the XC60 vehicle I was looking at. This was a very positive experience purchasing my Volvo S80. Scott and I met at the auto show and that following Monday I visited and test drove 3 Volvos. By far the most pleasant car buying experience I have had. From my first test drive with Scott through the finicial end with Terri and Andy.
