Dishonest and Unethical tactics to deter people from trying to negotiate the best price and going elsewhere to see if they can. The sales manager was absolutely horrible and had the nerve to lie to me trying to negotiate the best price and going elsewhere to see if they can. The sales manager was absolutely horrible and had the nerve to lie to me about certain business practices that apparently are "across the board" with ALL dealerships "since covid".. after reaching out to another friend who has worked in other Toyota dealerships since covid, and currently Works in another dealership for another manufacturey, he confirmed that I was absolutely lied to. To be more specific, I was told that prices on used cars are firm and no one negotiates anymore because that's a "thing of the past". The truth is that most dealerships are not going to negotiate on NEW cars because they actually don't make much of a profit on the sale of new cars the way they can on used vehicles. In my case this was a used car and they absolutely played me. They spoke on other company's behalf and lied to me to get me to back down on my persistent asking for them to come down on a $36,000 vehicle by only $2,000 even when I showed them that another vehicle that was newer and had less mileage was going for the price I was asking for them to come down to. They didn't even work with me to come with a counter of maybe meeting me halfway. After making me feel like I was an idiot for not knowing "how things were" and using the stupid excuse of how things are so different "after covid", I did back down foolishly and gave up, and purchased the car for (unnecessary) fear of wasting more time at another dealership to be told the same thing. I should have walked out and gone to Toyota of Dartmouth where I bought my current vehicle. Don't ever go to Copeland Toyota unless you don't care about this type of stuff or are buying a new car. Don't show up there expecting to negotiate a lower price, not at this dealership and if you do take that chance, just walk out if they decide not to work with you. I regret not walking out. We were very qualified buyers, excellent credit score and over 10k down payment but they needed to lie to squeeze us dry. More

Bought a used Highlander from these guys. They offered me a fair amount for my trade and were easy to deal with throughout the process. Not much pressure and they were very straightforward. Brought new Tundra to this location for first 5k mile service, only because its closer to my house than where I purchased it. The experience was terrible in every way. I dropped off the vehicle after h service, only because its closer to my house than where I purchased it. The experience was terrible in every way. I dropped off the vehicle after hours and told them to take their time with it. I gave a detailed explanation as to what I would like done, as well as some issues that I was experiencing with the new truck. I work in the automotive field and am explicitly familiar with some of the ways I could "create" resolutions for some of the issues, but as the truck is brand new it is not my responsibility. The advisor and I spoke twice, once when they pulled the vehicle in to go over concerns, and a second time after they were done. I left the truck there for an entire week, and it was still in and out in only a couple of hours. Presumably because their flat rate tech and advisor make no money on looking into concerns, unless there are TSBs or other supporting docs to bill under warranty. The one recall I had was for the dealer installed tonneau cover, for which there is no fix, so the cover was taken off and thrown in the bed of the truck and mine to store and deal with in the interim. Not one other concern was addressed, and when I ask what I could do abotu it, I somply told "I dunno complain to Toyota". Obviously I wasnt a huge fan of the dealer making zero effort, and telling me its my job to chase a resolution. I stated I wasnt a huge fan of the new truck design and asked if they had any new sequoias in stock, or on the way, and he said he would get me some info and attach to my final paperwork and also have sales reach out. Fast forward to pick up, none of those things were done, and I mentioned that to the cashier and she apologized and I left. Of course this is the last day of the month and she comes chasing me out into the parking lot to try and get me to go back in, and then I get a call from a sales manager about the sequoias. Unfortunately it was too little to late, and I purchased elsewhere, and kept the truck. Your service advisor (and or technician) cost you a customer (purchased one vehicle from you in the past) and a large sale. Do better... More
I took my car to Copeland because it was part of a paint recall. The service manager, Manny, took pictures of the car and told me the damage to my vehicle was not cause by faulty paint/primer and was in fa recall. The service manager, Manny, took pictures of the car and told me the damage to my vehicle was not cause by faulty paint/primer and was in fact cause by tiny pebble "impacts" because "that's just what happens." When I question him as to why my other older Toyota did not peel even though it has many, more tiny impact marks. He had no answer. He barely took pictures to submit to the recall department and said it was his professional opinion that the damage was not cause because of faulty paint. He was rude and spoke down to me. I told him I respectfully disagreed because I have another Toyota a Venza that is older and has a several dozen impact marks but the car is not peeling. Toyota will not fix the car because a service manager, not an autobody expert, said this is just what happens over time. I wonder why we don't see hundreds of thousands of Toyotas with peeling paint on the hood. More
