We thought they might at least program the new 130.00 key free but won't commit to anything. Even the GM won't return our call!!! More
DO NOT BUY FROM THE AUTOBARN CITY VOLKSWAGEN I bought a car from VW a few months ago. Things went fairly smoothly through the sales process since I had done all the research (I thought) necessary I bought a car from VW a few months ago. Things went fairly smoothly through the sales process since I had done all the research (I thought) necessary and brought my own financing. The car was great. Matt, my salesperson, didn't have to do anything other than prepare the paperwork. He mentioned the fact that the car had recently had brand new tires installed and I commented, "that's great. I drive a minimum of 100 miles a day, so I'm going to need good ones." Since this was at the end of the day, he conveniently left before I closed the deal in F&I. After having to argue my way through more and more add-ons while closing, I signed the paperwork and took possession of my new car. Right away, I noticed that the service light was on. I was told that this was nothing to worry about and they were upset that the service guys forgot to reset it, but not to worry because the car had undergone a multi-point inspection and everything looked great. Only about a week passed before I began having issues with one of my tires. I called and Dan Keric told me not to worry and come on by the next day to get it replaced. He again commented about being upset that the service guys forgot to reset my indicator and he'd take care of that, too. I took the car in, they didn't have the tire in stock, ordered the new one, reset my light, I came back and they installed the new tire. I was thinking to myself, "this is great service. I'll definitely be referring friends and family to VW." Needless to say, based on the star rating of this review, I'm VERY glad I have not recommended this dealership to anyone. After running over a screw, my TPMS came on. I took the car over to Discount Tire to get a quick patch and learned that my "new tires" are 3/32 or 4/32, meaning that they're barely legal to sell as used tires. I bought an all-wheel drive vehicle and tire tread depths cannot be more than a 3/32 difference or major damage can occur to your drive train. I called the dealership to try to figure out what the xxxx is happening. First, the person who answered in the Service Department told me that they aren't taking any appointments due to the mechanic strike and hung up on me. I called back and Jose told me that he understood my frustration and he'd have his manager call me back. After 4 hours, I called back and Jose told me that he gave the manager the info, but this is something that should be handled by sales. I then was connected with Matt, who originally sold me the car. Without giving any personal information, I told Matt that I bought a car a few months ago and was told that it had new tires which I have come to find out is not true. Matt, again without knowing my name or vehicle, responded with, "I don't remember saying that". He then told me that I'd need to speak with his manager, but he knows they're not going to want to pay for new tires. Next, I called Claudio, the sales manager, and left a voicemail explaining the situation. After hours of waiting, I called again and asked to speak with Dan Keric, the GM. I was told Dan was with a customer, but would get back to me promptly. Many hours have passed and my phone has not made a sound. I then called and texted Dan Drescher, the COO, who has yet to respond. I was told in the beginning that my car underwent the multi-point inspection. There is no way this could have happened as there is major cupping on the inside of each of my 4/32 tires. This also indicates that the tires have NEVER been rotated. Looks like I know why that service light was on when I bought the car. *Update* After writing my original review, I was finally able to make contact with Dan Keric. After explaining the situation, Dan seemed hesitant to do anything at all for me. I reminded him multiple times of our conversation immediately after the purchase. He acted like he had no memory of the conversations and was ready to write me off. Not giving up, I explained the situation and gave more detail of our conversation regarding the service indicator and bad tire. For whatever reason, he suddenly remembered who I am. Again, I explained every detail of what lead us to that point in the conversation. He was ready to deny my claim of the fact the car was sold to me with "new tires". I let him know if the car actually went through inspection, there is no way this could have been missed due to the severe damage to the inside of each of my tires. Dan agreed and told me he would need to check with his service manager. Fewer than ten minutes later, Dan told me I'm getting new tires. No apology. No explanation as to why this happened. No acceptance of responsibility. New tires, though. I guess that's a start. Dan told me to come over to the dealership at 9 AM on Monday and his service manager would take care of it himself. The job would only take a few hours. I told Dan that I couldn't be there myself, but my fiance could drop the car off. Dan offered a loaner if she needed it for the few hours they needed to change my tires. My fiance was there at 9. Nobody greeted her. Nobody knew why she was there. No service manager in sight. A few members of the sales staff congratulated her for getting new tires. xxx? Eventually, she drove off in a VW Jetta as a loaner for a few hours. At least that's what we thought. By noon, we still hadn't received a call updated the status of my car. We waited a few more hours. Still, no contact from VW. At 5 PM she called and said she was on her way. The person who answered the phone asked if she could wait longer because they were "finishing up" and test driving the car. Another promise unfulfilled by the VW staff. When she arrived to pick up the car, I had asked her to ask for copies of the inspection reports and service records. When she asked, the service team member looked at her like she was crazy. Needless to say, she did not leave with ANY records. She was told that I should personally ask the service manager for the records. Well, I've done that. Many times. Then next morning,I wake up, drive to work, tires seem fine, but I didn't feel like they did a very good job washing the car because there was a dark smudge on my brand new bumper. I just recently had the entire bumper replaced after a semi blew a tire on the highway which struck my front end. I grabbed a cloth and wiped down the spot. It's a deep gouge in the paint that looks like it was made with an impact wrench. I've filed a complaint with VW corporate, but they have done little at best. They claim to have a copy of my inspection report, but I have yet to see it. DO NOT BUY FROM THE AUTOBARN CITY VOLKSWAGEN. This has been the worst car buying/owning experience I have ever had to endure. Looks like I'll be contacting my attorney and filing a lawsuit. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to the negative reviews. More

Very pleased with the job rendered on my Jetta, from driver's window that never closes, too low oil temp and to my tire that sustained a nail in the middle part of it. Very, very grateful to service department, Poldino Buti, and to other staff Jose ( reception areas) and Justine Russo. They go above and beyond. Thanks again, guys. More

Make sure to bring the car to a mechanic before purchase The sales team and the General Manager are really nice. I am not putting down this dealership at all, they really mean well. I only want to help arm s The sales team and the General Manager are really nice. I am not putting down this dealership at all, they really mean well. I only want to help arm someone who wishes to purchase a car from this dealership. If buying their "wheels and Key" warranty, make sure that they give you two working keys. After being told by the salesman that even though I was given one key, I will be able to receive a second key 30 days after purchase with the warranty and that "it pays for itself", this only works if you lie to the company and tell them that you had received two keys when you purchased the car. Make sure to bring a mechanic with you when you purchase a vehicle here, as their mechanic only checks to ensure that the car is "safe to drive", but not the general functionality of the vehicle. Even if the sales team tells you that the vehicle was fully checked out by a mechanic, as per my discussion with the General Manager this only means it is safe to drive. Unfortunately, I only found this out after purchasing my car. I had to take the car to a mechanic three days after I purchased it. A new filter had to be put in. The brakes were rusty (but still safe to drive) and sounded like nails on a chalkboard when braking. It happens on and off so I never noticed this on my test drive. The part that causes the AWD to function properly also had to be replaced as it was causing the car to burn double the gas and I could feel the car shifting gears (but it was safe to drive without replacing it). Also, when purchasing a vehicle, make sure to discuss what they mean when they say they will put a front license plate onto the car. Apparently, some customers prefer not to put their front license plate on (even though it is required in Illinois) and if you purchase a non-VW car, they may not put a front license on it. I spoke to the General Manager, and he kindly let me know, that he understands my frustration, but putting the front license plate on some luxury vehicles may need some extra parts which I should order online, and wasn't part of the deal.
