Well this is getting expensive Drove 8 hours to look at a 2003 wrx from this dealer. Jim said the cars are checked for safety before he will sell them. But whatever not the worst thing in the world bought the car and was feeling alright about it. A month and a half later my wrx is now in a shop and needing a new engine because of a extremely worn connector rod that broke. Car had 141xxx miles on it and I didn't drive the car hard at all. So this car I thought I got a deal on is now financially ruining me and I warn you don't believe things on first glance. Jim's a nice guy but he's sketchy as xxxx with his business dealings. If i could do it again I'd have keep my hard earned money I saved forever and just bought from somewhere else. Understand that buying as is means the car can blow up and month later and you're screwed More

Jim's price was over 20% lower than any other using similar vehicles. Also,, after we paid for the car Jim paid for some additional mechanical safety issues that our mechanic found. In July of 2013, my dad and I went to Charleston Auto Sales. We were originally looking to buy a used Subaru Outback, but ended up getting a 2004 Subaru Forester instead. He allowed us to take the car to our mechanic friend during a test drive who agreed on the price that had been set for us and didn't find any issues with the car. The rearview mirror on the car needed to be replaced and Mr. Gerow kindly replaced it for us right then and there. This year we shopped at Charleston Auto Sales for the second year in a row. We had a great experience last summer with Jim and his assistant Rachel when we were looking for a station wagon. The Subaru Outback we found has more than met our expectations. This year we were shopping for a Subaru Impreza sedan. Jim had a couple of Legacy sedans which were far better for our needs. Both were in good condition, but the preferred car turned out to need some work. Jim sent it to his shop. A few days later we went back and bought the vehicle. Both times we worked with Jim our mechanic came with us to look over his stock and test drive cars with us. Our mechanic is as impressed with Jim's stock of cars and helpfulness as we were. When that one didn't work out, Mr. Gerow showed me some of his Subarus in the same price range and within 15 minutes, I was sold and signing for my car. Since purchasing it, I have called Mr. Gerow three or four times with questions, and each time he has either been able to answer them or send me to the right person who can. The thing I loved about Charleston Auto Sales the most was after signing for the car and even after picking up my license plate and registration today, I still know that if I have any problems with the car or any further questions, I shouldn't hesitate to call Mr. Gerow. He is not only a great resource but he also genuinely cares whether or not I have received the best service. I was looking for a relatively specific Subaru model and found pretty much the exact car we wanted…the only hitch was that we live in Nashville and Jim's dealership is in Charleston. The detailed description and car photos helped a lot. I obtained a car fax report, and Jim provided solid details backing up all the information in that record. After corresponding with Jim over a couple of days by email, I decided to fly to Charleston (via Chicago) and take a look. Jim picked me up at the airport, and we test drove on highways and surface streets back to his office. The car checked out and everything was exactly as advertised. The car had been well serviced by Jim's preferred local mechanic (whom I spoke with on the telephone before committing to the trip). Jim noticed that the car was pulling a bit on the drive to pick me up, and arranged to have it aligned on my way out of town. I had an uneventful drive back to Nashville and have been driving the car without zero hiccups for the last several weeks. We had a friend at a local Subaru dealership give the car a once over. The master technician there informed us that everything appeared to have been serviced perfectly and was in good working order. We did a full fluid change and now have precisely the vehicle that we wanted. Very much appreciate the good service, full-disclosure buying process.
