Following day, I Two weeks ago I bought a Highlander from CarMax and was assured they do a rigid inspection of all cars before placing on the market. Following day, I noticed the tire pressure alarm always on even when the tires were fine. I exchanged it with another Highlander for $1000 more. Following morning, I noticed the pavement under the car wet with oil. I brought it CarMax Duarte service shop for them to check and fix. After an hour of waiting I was told by the technician that they found only residual oil from a repair they did, and there way no leak. So all they did was clean it up. The following morning, I still found wet pavement, so I brought it to the shop I usually go and they showed me where the leak was coming from and what it was that was leaking - radiator. It has to be replaced. Carmax told me I have to leave the car with them to do a repair like that because there were many ahead of me. I had to leave for a long trip so I had my shop fix it for $700+. While driving from the shop, I noticed the two front windows would not fully close/open. I brought it back and had the motors replaced for $1100+. The rear brake lights were also bad and had those fixed as well. If you go to CarMax, don't think they actually inspect and fixed every car they sell. More
Friendly, Helpful, Great People I went to CarMax to sell my SLK280. Kelly BB said it was worth $12,450. The dealer where I was buying another car said they'd give me $9,800! xxx! So I went to CarMax to sell my SLK280. Kelly BB said it was worth $12,450. The dealer where I was buying another car said they'd give me $9,800! xxx! So someone said go talk to Josh at CarMax. Since I had nothing to lose, I went there and met Josh. The most earnest, honest, helpful guy I've met at a dealership. He took my keys, and 10 minutes later came back and said he thought I'd be happy with their appraisal. Boy was I ever! They offered $15,000! $5k more than the dealer, and $2.5K more than Kelly Blue Book had said. Josh helped me get the stuff out of my car and then took me to Maurice in the business office and he got the check for me. Friendly, honest, amazing. I had never been to any CarMax dealer before, and honestly for some unknown reason had a low opinion of them. BUT my personal experience once there was terrific. I don't know about the other CarMax locations, but this one offered literally world class service to me. I'm forever thankful to Josh for helping me. There was no xx, no negative comments about the car, it was great. Anyway, can't say enough good things about my experience there. More

I have had a bad break noise in the van that I bought from the time I got it and the tell it a defeat in the breaks and there is nothing they can do about i had a bad break noise in the van that I bought from the time I got it and the tell it a defeat in the breaks and there is nothing they can do about it. I also had to have the transmission replace and it is slipping again. Every time I take it in to have it fix it is not cover by the warranty. So why am I paying for something I can't use. CARMAX IS THE BIGGEST RIPOFF AROUND DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS PLACE THEY DO NOT STAND BUY THEY SELL OR SAY. More

I have dealt with them since they first started operating in Duarte, CA. Initially, they were a great company. My last experience means I will never use them again. I bought a RAV4 which has a serious problem with the sound system. I have been back to the dealership 5 or 6 times, trying to get them to acknowledge the problem. All I got was a runaround. So, I went to Al & Ed's Autosound, where the problem was immediately acknowledged. I got a quote (at dealer's cost) for the repair. I took this document back to CarMax, and after another delay, was finally informed that -- since the car was still under warranty from Toyota -- CarMax would do absolutely nothing about this issue. It had to be handled through Toyota. So, I have wasted hours of time -- that I didn't have, since I am a busy professional -- and still have a defective car. No one gives you the straight story. In order to get the information given above, I had to cut through the mindless iteration of "canned" language and ask very specific, "yes" or "no," questions. Even then, it was like trying to pry open an oyster. And, when I asked to speak to either the service manager or the manager of the dealership, I was told that no one was on site at the dealership for the entire week! I certainly couldn't run my business that way. Avoid this company. They have degenerated into rip-off artists. More
