I love CarMax. I really do. At this point, I honestly don’t see myself going back to a regular used car dealership. If I’m buying used, I’m going to CarMax. Yes, I really do. Yes, the prices may be a little higher, but in my experience, you’re paying for peace of mind. I’d rather spend a little more upfront on a good, reliable car than save a few thousand at a random “as-is” dealership and end up spending that same money — or more — on repairs later. I’ve bought three cars from CarMax for myself and my family, and every experience has been solid. The cars have been dependable, the customer service has been great, and the return policy and warranty give you a level of comfort that most used car dealerships just don’t offer. For me, CarMax is worth it. I usually come with cash or a strong down payment and only finance what I can pay off quickly. Be smart, do your research, and consider CarMax if you want a used car without all the usual dealership stress. More

I have not had a good experience! I first received a vehicle with engine problems and then the second vehicle that I got had exhaust problems. I have been in a loaner vehicle and have I first received a vehicle with engine problems and then the second vehicle that I got had exhaust problems. I have been in a loaner vehicle and have not been able to drive the car that I paid for. I am very disappointed overall and don’t understand how I was given two vehicles with major problems if these vehicles are checked prior to selling them. I have wasted so much time going back and forth to the dealership and will have to find a different vehicle for the third time. Although the people are very nice I’m not sure about the business practices and I can’t confidently recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from CarMax. More
The overall process was very easy. I was able to select my car ahead of time and have it shipped to my location and it was as described. It took far longer than needed for a cash purchase and even the store manger and sales person apologized multiple times. More
I recently made my second purchase from CarMax. I hear a lot of negative things about the dealers prices being too high but when I research, they tend to be reasonable. The warranties are a little on the pricey side though. When you buy a car you get 30 (or so) days to bring it in for whatever is wrong with it. And they said by this as I’ve experienced it both times. They don’t back away from what they are responsible for. Then if you have purchased a warranty you pay $150-$200 for whatever the issue is. As for the dealership, it’s clean and people are friendly. There’s places to chill inside and out. The vending machines are high so bring snacks especially if you’re getting your vehicle serviced. Keep up the good work and continue to stand by your products and make sure to keep your warranty costs affordable. More
