I have been looking for a new car since January and finally settled on a new subaru outback. My local dealership didn't really seem to understand that I had a budget and refused to help me get somethin finally settled on a new subaru outback. My local dealership didn't really seem to understand that I had a budget and refused to help me get something I could afford, instead they kept pushing me to finance the $4,000 or $5,000 difference to upgrade to leather interior and options I don't need. I ended up really frustrated because I did a lot of research and it seemed like I should be able to get the options I wanted within my budget. I went on Truecar.com and got several bids, Capitol subaru offered the best combination of price/package and so I put a deposit down for a new 2013 outback Premium. It all went so smoothly it was kind of unbelievable- I picked the color and interior and options I wanted, they offered a great price, and now I have my perfect new car!!! They contacted me when the car was ready, and even delivered it a few days early to work around a trip I had planned. I read a lot of negative reviews of other dealerships and was nervous something would go wrong, like they would spend four hours pushing the extended warranty, but it all went perfectly. I got the car I wanted at a great price, and it was actually really pleasant and enjoyable to work with them. They were friendly and professional, and I never felt like they were dishonest or trying to push me into spending more. They seemed more than happy to work with me to get exactly what I wanted. After I got the offer from capitol subaru I contacted my local dealership to see if they could match it because I felt bad they had helped me test drive the cars, etc. Capitol subaru's price was over $1500 less than their best offer. I've only had the car for two days now but I am SO HAPPY!!!! And given my experience with other dealerships, I would stick with subaru and travel very far to keep working with the people at Capitol Subaru. It's completely worth it to avoid negative experiences, and their prices are great. More

My car was smoking out of the scuba causing me to believe there was trouble with the engine. I took my Subaru to the service department at Capital Auto Group. I assumed they were a reputable and reliable dealer, since I have always taken my car there for oil changes and service in the past. In the past six months I have spent several thousand dollars on my Subaru with Capital Auto Group trusting they were correctly diagnosing what was wrong with the vehicle. This time they told me I needed to replace my Turbo engine. So, as I was deciding what I would like to do with my car, I asked the service person if they had any what my car was worth. As they were getting a sales person to figure the current value of my vehicle, I decided to test drive another Subaru. The sales person “Dan” was helpful and took me on a test drive. I told him repeatedly, I have never purchased a car on my own and I would like my father to be present with me. He explained to me the only way to get the value of my car was to take some information from me. Being unfamiliar with this process, that sounded reasonable to me. I began to give him some information, and I was beginning to feel uncomfortable because it seemed to be a lot of personal information just to figure out a trade in value on my car. I told him again, I would like to have my father here with me. He promised me that none of the information would be sold to any other outside facility. I asked him right to his face, you are not running my credit or my father’s credit are you? He said no credit checks were being run at this point. He then left me for about 20 minuets. He then returned with an offer on the vehicle I had test drove and told me my 2004 Subaru was worth $1000.00. He had payment options and was trying to set up a deal. After I had repeatedly told “Dan” I wanted my father there with me, I was extremely upset at this point and told him to get me my keys, I am leaving. I told him he made me extremely uncomfortable and he was extremely pushy. I was not interested in purchasing a car with him and I am not stupid, my car is worth more than $1000.00. The next day I called to complain to the Sales manager, Rory Casebeer about “Dan”. Rory told me that he was not present the day before so he couldn’t tell me anything about what happened. He never once apologized about how I had been treated. I became really upset and he told me he couldn’t talk over me (since I was yelling at this point) and he was in the middle of 5 car deals and he was too busy to deal with me. I told him I didn’t want my personal information on file with Capital Auto Group. He told me that they had to keep my information on file for three years when they file credit reports. I was so upset because I had specifically asked to NOT have my credit run I began to cry. Rory then felt it necessary to ramble off his social security number and his home address and asked me if it made me happy that I now know personal information on him. Actually he caused me to stop crying because I began to think how interesting in this economy where customer service and client care can make or break a business, Capital Auto Group can speak to there clients in such a demeaning way. Capital Auto Group is so successful they can cause there customers to cry and treat them however they please. That is quite impressive. I decided to take my Subaru to a mechanic who specializes in Subaru’s in Eugene. I figured I would have the car fixed, sell it myself, take the money and purchase a new Subaru. (NOT at Capital Auto Group) The Ironic part of the story is the mechanic found that there was a cracked seal on an intake valve that was leaking oil into my Turbo. For $220.00 He replaced that valve and serviced my Turbo. There was nothing wrong with the turbo to begin with! Capital Subaru wanted to do $2200.00 worth of work on a car that just needed to be serviced. Also, I was charged $120.00 for the misdiagnosis of the car too! It makes me wonder, what else has Capital Auto Group fixed on my Subaru that did not need to be fixed? Was Capital just trying push me to purchase a new car? Did they know my car just needed some service and they were going to offer a stupid female $1000.00 for a perfectly good car? Kelly Blue Book says my Subaru is worth $5560.00 in poor condition. I am absolutely discussed by the way Capital Auto Group treated me. I will never take my business there again. I have posted on my Face Book page (455 people) for others not to shop there too. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s office, Better Business Bureau, Yelp and Google too. I also rated my dealer at www.dealerrater.com, and called Subaru of America @ 1-800-782-2783 too. I have also told ever person, client, or anyone who will listen, how horrible Capital Auto Group treats there customers. Capital Auto Group should be ashamed and at the very least refund my $120.00 I paid for them to misdiagnose my Subaru. However, with the service Capital Auto Group provides I will not hold my breath. Friendly and helpful service team. Appreciated the courtesy ride to work. Discounts offered on a regular basis are a plus. I can beat the prices of service but prefer the friendly non 'pushy' service courtesy ride to work. Discounts offered on a regular basis are a plus.
