Excellent experience I worked with TJ purchasing a new SUV. He was very helpful, and professional. They will sell you a car that needs $$$ in repair We purchased an Acura MDX from this dealership in January, after driving it and agreeing on a price we agreed to come and pick it up a few days later We purchased an Acura MDX from this dealership in January, after driving it and agreeing on a price we agreed to come and pick it up a few days later because it had not been all the way through their service and detailing department. Agreed in the deal CAL fixed some small dents, checked the brakes (ended up turning the rotors) and changed the timing belt and water pump (notorious for going out once this type of car reaches mileage over 100K). We paid $500 of the timing belt and water pump change which we felt was fair. A week later we picked the car up and handed over the check, we drove out of the parking lot and ran to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant and we drove through a pothole and it seemed like there was no shock absorption at all and we heard a loud thunk (we were driving slowly). I immediately called and our salesperson (Taylor) told us to bring it back and they would look at it. We decided it wasn't a safety issue and I was coming back in a day and a half to fly out on vacation so we decided that would be soon enough to return it. While I was on vacation they let me know that the car needed front struts which they replaced on their dime (told me it was a $1,200-$1,400 repair) before I returned. We only test drove the car on the highway and didn't drive through any major bumps or potholes so we didn't notice the crappy drive-ability of the car. I picked the car up and drove home and again once I drove over a bump, this time a speed bump, the car did the same thing so I immediately called and told them they didn't fix the issue. I got an appointment a few days later and wouldn't you know it the rear struts also needed replaced. The car has electronic suspension so the cost to replace the rear struts was $1,400 but they would do it and cover all of the cost except for $500. Then realizing I wasn't happy they told me they would give me a great deal on a different vehicle and I could trade this one in. Well, the last thing I wanted to do was buy a different car through them. I tried to reason with them and have them cover all of the repair because they covered the front struts which didn't even fix the issue. They of course refused to cover the full repair which meant changing the rear struts as well, their reasoning was because "they didn't make any money off of the car." This would have been almost $3,000 if I had to pay for it out of pocket. We ended up paying the $500 to have it fully repaired. I realize we purchased the car "as is" and this could have been much worse so my gripe is this....why would they sell a vehicle that needed that much repair in the first place. Why wouldn't they do a thorough check and fix the issues and raise the asking price? Wait, it gets better - I have the car in the shop again today (at my local shop because I refuse to drive an hour and a half each way to CAL again!) I find out the car is out of Freon (remember we bought this in January and didn't need AC). How are they ok with selling a vehicle that so obviously wasn't thoroughly checked out? Again, it gets better...after we purchased our vehicle some friends of ours purchased one from CAL as well. We had to fight to get our "bird dog" fee of $100 (should have been $200 but we got hosed because our friends didn't use the same salesperson). Why should it have even be an issue for them to pay us, especially since they are saving thousands of dollars by not repairing vehicles before they sell them? Our friends took the car home the beginning of February and have already had to replace the front and rear brakes, they didn't even contact CAL to do the work even though it would have saved them money. They were simply disgusted and refused to deal with them any further after my experience. Our salesperson Taylor and the service manager Scott have been great to work with, everyone else has been awful! DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE HERE!!! While the owner is away at the Barrett Jackson Auto Show (true, he was there when we purchased our vehicle) his employees are screwing used car buyers over. More
