I traded for a truck that was riddled .........Updated 11/8/2023 below I had the worst vehicle purchase experience I've ever had at this dealership. I traded for a truck that was riddled with problems that I was not made aware of at the time of purchase. Serious problems, like a broken axle boot, oil leaks, and all ball joints almost completely worn out. I didn't realize any of this in the little bit of time I test drove the truck, and for sure was not informed. I should have walked away when I was given my trade-in value I was hoping for, but was told that offer would only be good if I took the deal right then and there, that night. I drove the truck one day after purchase when I realized some leaking on the ground at work and at home. When I realized the leaking, I had my mechanic check out the truck, and he told me about all the issues I mentioned above. That night after he checked it out, I took the truck back to the dealership to try to get out of the truck. Yes, i bought the truck "as-is", but there were some safety issues with this truck that they neglected to tell me about so I could make a completely informed decision that night. Of course, they wouldn't let me out of it, or go choose something else on the lot. We ended up leaving the truck there to let their service department "look into" it. They let me take a loaner for the weekend so I'd have something to drive (by the way, the check engine light came on while I had this loaner). After a few days of having the truck, they finally did a thorough inspection of the truck and one of their techs found a few of the items our mechanic found. Not sure if that tech was supposed to admit to us he found those things, but thankfully he did. So they wanted to put dye in the oil to find where the leak(s) were coming from, so they did, we came back and drove the truck several days to get the dye flowing, took it back again, and they provided another loaner. All this time, my wife was dealing with the sales manager and the service manager. I thank her for doing that, because there's no way I could have been nice throughout all this. She was the one having to keep the constant pressure on them to do the right thing and make the truck safe to drive, as it should have been before selling it. Oh, and by the way, the truck was priced at the full KBB retail value for the age and mileage and as if there were no mechanical problems. After some more pressuring from my wife, she got them to agree to fix only three of the issues, but they still wanted us to pay their cost to get them done. A few days later and more pressure, the sales manager finally came back and said his department would cover the cost that the service department wouldn't cover, and they fixed the three things at no cost to us. After about a month of bickering with them to do the right thing by us, I'm still left with a coolant leak and all ball joints that I've got to figure out how to pay to replace along with a new truck payment now. If you are still reading this, I would advise not going to Bob Howard Chevrolet Used Cars for sure. I would probably bet that all the Bob Howard dealerships are run the same way, so beware up there. I will definitely never go back. More
