Taken for a Ride It turned out, I made a HUGE mistake! I went to an "event" at the dealership to look at used cars $6000 or less. I was warmly greeted and shown a choi It turned out, I made a HUGE mistake! I went to an "event" at the dealership to look at used cars $6000 or less. I was warmly greeted and shown a choice of one..Everyone was friendly, sharply dressed and seemed hard working. I test drove a 2011 Sonata and loved it. Richard, my sales person, even drove me to my home to pick up my insurance card , title, and check book which I didn't have on my person. so we could negotiate a cash sale. And, Ryan, the sales manager, was so sweet and sent me home with a homemade blueberry pie. But then, Ryan and Dylan, assistant business manager pictured to the right, took me for quite the ride. THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME: Stole my trust and stole my money to the tune of over $12K. I was swindled. Lied to. Get this ,I was told by 3 different employees they'd give me $1000 trade-in for my '99 Honda Accord with 153,000K mi. I don't claim to know a lot about cars, but I knew that was total xx.( I was just glad they'd take my car off my hands). But the son of a b's, took off the thousand, then put it back into their pricing. Ryan sweet-talked me from a cash deal to keeping $1200 of my money for an emergency and financing that little bit it for just $50 a month. The details just get more sickening. I'll spare you and myself the nausea of giving more details.. I made a mistake, I got caught up in the excitement of buying a new used car . They knew I needed a car quickly. I told them right from the start, my car didn't pass inspection and I couldn't afford to fix it. I signed the paperwork 3.5 hours later, after skimming down about 1/3 of 8 pages and not noticing anything out of line. At 6:45 pm Ryan shook my hand for about the tenth time and asked an employee to go get my car. They gave me loaner which I thought was strange but told me they needed to get the Honda ready for auction. I was coming back on Monday b/c they promised to do a complimentary car wash, complimentary multi-point inspection and buff out a rear fender dent. The sonata was a trade-in that morning and they told me that they hadn't had time to service it. That was a gift. It allowed me the time to read over the paperwork and process my purchase in the comfort of my home. As well as, cancel payment on my $3000 check and alert my bank of a pending charge of $1800 on my charge. My story ends well but someone else' could get taken tomorrow. I called Seth and told him we had a problem and I would be at the dealership within 2 hours. Spencer, pictured to the right, got involved in our conversation. The sale was canceled. My check returned. The charge credited. My Honda and keys returned, I don't have a car but I got back my self-respect. Sienna( just like the Toyota, only more attractive) More
