Great buying experience with Fred! I just bought a Mazda CX-5 from Fred and Bob Baker after one month of looking around. I am picky and haggle a lot. I started my search at Escondido, I just bought a Mazda CX-5 from Fred and Bob Baker after one month of looking around. I am picky and haggle a lot. I started my search at Escondido, but they provided no follow-up and it really felt like they didn't want to fight for my business. Fred on the other hand was very, very responsive on email and very honest (even suggesting waiting a week for upcoming discounts which ended up saving me $750 more!). He endured about 3 weeks of emails and back and forths from myself. Even the finance and docs aspects was easy and non-pushy. Fred really went above and beyond for me when one of the Mazda Corp discounts wasn't coming through. It was clear he wanted to be sure I was covered. Oh, and they beat Escondido Mazda pricing by around $2k! More

Grumpy and Unpleasant At my first visit, no salesmen were visible until we had circled the lot, and entered the building. The salesman did not come across as very friendly, and after the test drive he informed me he had the weekend off, and would not come in and miss his big game. While there was not a lot of sales pressure, he almost seemed disinterested. At my second visit, the salesman was informative, but spent a lot of time informing me on how my current car was terrible. He was a bit grumpy overall. When it came time for sales figures, he played the 'These are the secret numbers no one sees', even though I had told him previously I had quotes from contacting various dealerships over the internet (his dealership's internet quote was less than his 'secret' numbers). The worst part was the follow-up call a couple of days later from this salesman where he said something about me contacting so many people in sales and said What are you doing? in an agitated voice. I told him I went to another dealership to purchase my vehicle, and he reacted with something like 'Why would you do that?' which sounded angry/agitated to me. I interrupted him, and ended the phone call at that point as it felt as though he was harassing me. I had gone to a different Mazda dealership further from my home. It was a very pleasant, very informative experience. They negotiated a good price, and I purchased the new car from them. More

They have a loose relationship with truth I was deceived about the characteristics of the CX5 I purchased in March 2014. It was not the car the salesman claimed it to be, and rode very rough. I was deceived about the characteristics of the CX5 I purchased in March 2014. It was not the car the salesman claimed it to be, and rode very rough. My neck was damaged. I traded for their minivan, Mazda5, and was told it had good crash test ratings, but had not been tested since 2010 (this was a 2015 model) because there had been no body changes since then. WRONG! I learned later that the body style changed in 2012 and the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety tested it. The results were abysmal and I am now at risk should this car be in an accident. In the sude impact test, THE ENTIRE SIDE CRUMPLES. It happened to me 5 years ago. The minivan I was in was hit at a higher rate of speed than crash tests are performed. The vehicle sustained only a dent. I had severe whiplash and 2 slipped disks in my neck. I made my disability needs crystal clear to them twice, and twice I was deceived. I have spent a total of $28,225. My car is worth $16,000 in a trade. Bob Baker Mazda offered to take the car back for $18,600. Not even close to being able to replace the car with a safe and comfortable one. A huge financial loss. I am disabled on low income and was taken advantage of. More
