BUYERS BEWARE - I just purchased a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon from Automotive Avenues 10 days ago. Since purchase, I have found numerous issues that have required repairs to be made immediately. SUMMARY: It appears that the vehicle was never inspected at the dealership. The issues I have found since purchasing were relatively easy to find with a little time, but were hidden enough to sell me on the vehicle after a simple test drive and visual inspection at the dealership. RECOMMENDATION: Any vehicle purchased from this dealership should first be brought to an off-site third party mechanic for a thorough inspection. Do not settle for an on-site mechanic inspector, like AWP. FULL STORY: I live in Cleveland, OH and was searching the nation for a Jeep Wrangler with certain specs and in a certain price range. Automotive Avenues had one listed for sale with incredibly low mileage for the year. After doing extended research, I chose to make the 8hr drive to New Jersey to see the vehicle. Upon arrival, I took it for a short test drive (they limit you to a short pre-planned route). Everything appeared operational, and I looked it over for about an hour at the dealership. However, I am no mechanic. I then purchased the vehicle and drove it back to Cleveland. Since returning, I have found the following issues: 1. Check engine light for bad thermostat, with evidence that the code had been cleared previously without a repair having been made. 2. Two exhaust flanges lost their bolts almost simultaneously, resulting in a loud exhaust noise and requiring immediate repair at a shop. 3. Found that the aftermarket wheels had been installed without hub centric rings, which would eventually have resulted in a wheel falling off the vehicle while driving. (I count myself lucky to not have caused a major accident while driving back to Ohio.) 4. The front passenger side brake caliper was seized. The issue was not noticeable during the test drive, but became very obvious after a longer drive. 5. The aftermarket wheels included vanity covers over the lug nuts, and after removing the covers, I discovered that one wheel was being held on by only 3 lug nuts (!!!!). The other two wheel studs were stripped, so they will need to be replaced immediately. That's five problems in 10 days. Hopefully, I can get everything repaired and will discover no other issues. However, I would strongly recommend that anyone purchasing from Automotive Avenues demand that the vehicle be taken to an off-site third party mechanic for a thorough inspection. It may cost you a few hundred $$$, but it will be money well spent. More
