The Finance dept. will not cooperate unless you are financing through them, will not provide Title transfers information if buying through a different lender. slow to respond; took days before anyone would respond to inquiries; they don’t mind telling a lie! A salesman gave me a cash price and we ag Buyer beware - The Sales Mgr. emailed me about a 2018 Mustang. I agreed to buy the car after a test drive. A salesman gave me a cash price and we agreed to a cash deal. Since it was after banking hours Saturday, 5/15 we agreed that I would bring a certified check Monday, 5/17. The sales manger approved the deal for Monday. While we were signing papers the salesman asked me 3 times about financing the car but I repeated that I would pay cash. Then, he asked me to wait while he had another conversation with the sales manager, came back and said they would hold the car until Monday if I gave a $1,000 deposit. I agreed and authorized a Visa charge. Because it was late we agreed that I would finish signing papers Monday when I brought the check. As I was leaving, the salesman asked me to wait while he had a 3rd conversation with the sales manager. He came back and said that used cars were selling so fast right now that they would not hold the car until Monday despite the $1,000 deposit and that my only choice was to agree to finance the car right then. I got my Visa charge authorization back and started to leave, and the salesman had the audacity to get angry because I would not cave to dishonest high pressure tactics. It seems the plan from the start was to try to coax/pressure me into financing the car instead of sticking to the cash deal we made. Apparently, AutoNation makes so much profit from financing that they do not want cash customers. Caveat Emptor. More
