AutoNation Chevrolet Arrowhead responded

Looking back at the paperwork for your original visit on Dec 21st, 2011 our technician did note that the transmission fluid needed attention. He recommended doing a transmission service. If we would have done a transmission service at that time, we would have dropped the transmission oil pan. Looking at the dropped oil pan, there would have been signs showing us that parts of the transmission were wearing abnormally. At that point we could have inspected the transmission and found that the transmission forward sprag was actually failing and not holding as per designed. Also, that the transmission clutches were going bad which would have caused the fluid to be dark and have a burnt smell, which it did. Even if the transmission was serviced 3 months prior, failed parts in the transmission would have caused the fluid to be dark and burnt since prior service.

Again, the fluid was not dark and did NOT smell even after the truck was towed back to the dealership. This was confirmed by Josh and a technician!! Dino flat out lied peiod. Why would I pay your dealership to change it when it was done 3,000 miles prior and was not dark!! I will be submitting a compliant to corporate.

We apologize for the perception that we gave you. We believe the initial diagnosis of the fluid was correct since the transmission and clutches failed the following day. We have already informed corporate and would like to work on correcting any trust issues that have been damaged. We value all of our customers and strive to perform quality service.

Fact, the initial diagnosis was NOT correct. Speak with Josh who pulled transmission fluid from the truck the day the sprag and clutch went out. It was pink, NOT dark. The same fluid that was in the truck the day before when it was at your dealership. The fluid would not change from dark to pink without some one changing it! Just be aware you have a dishonest employee working for your dealership. This is not the wrong preception...it is the truth. I do appreciate Josh's quick action to help resolve the situation and get us the rental suv so we could leave on our vacation. Your dealership may not have been able to forsee the sprag and clutch problem. I understand that however, the fact remains the fluid was pink not dark. Period. I can not trust someone who has lied. Our only mistake was trusting your employee and leaving the dealership the first day without Dino showing us the fluid was bad. I'm sure you have contacted corporate this type of customer service should not be tolerated. My father knows many people in this industry and come to find out Dino is known for his dishonesty. I suggest your HR does a bit more on the background checks on new hires.
