Problems From The Start My wife purchased a 2008 STI as a surprise for my graduation. When she went to buy the salesman, Chad, promised her that the car had been look at by n My wife purchased a 2008 STI as a surprise for my graduation. When she went to buy the salesman, Chad, promised her that the car had been look at by not only the dealer but the Subaru specialist that houses his business in their warehouse, Clark Turner. This is important because the vehicle had serious MOD's such as cold air intake, boost controller, blow off, exhaust and others. The day of purchase we experienced the AC not working properly and temp reaching above 210 degrees on the coolant temps. We brought it back in and they recharged the AC and sent me along. The next day the same thing would happen, brought it back. They flushed the coolant system and sent me along. The third day in a row of overheating/AC issues, ASM decided to replace the fans and relays. Took it home and it started throwing all sorts of codes including the "lean fuel" code. During this process I found out that the vehicle was looked at by the dealer but Clark Turner (Clark Turner Tuning) had never even seen the vehicle, much less performed an inspection. Turns out the STI we purchased was not tuned at all for the modifications it had and was running on a stock tune. It didnt even have an access port (computer) that should have come with the car to be able to tune it. ASM's solution to this was to have ME pay for half of the access port and they would cover the tune, $400 on top of what we already paid. We get the car back and I am loving it... for 1000 miles. Before I even got to my first oil change the motor was toast, spun a bearing. ASM did nothing to help out, despite many attempts, and wouldn't even cover the cost of a re-tune after I paid for a full motor rebuild. Seems to me that ASM sells a lot of Subaru's on the reputation of Clark Turner but just make sure they actually get him to look at it before you buy it. I was new into the Subaru world and ASM took advantage of that. Just please be careful, dont want to see anyone else drop $$$$$ to replace a motor. JUST TO BE CLEAR, no negative at all towards Clark Turner or his shop. His reputation is solid for a reason. Unfortunate to see ASM use his name to sell me a car. More
