Alfa Romeo of Manhattan

My experience with Alfa Romeo of Manhattan has been horrible to put it lightly. I went into the showroom (May 2022) to look at specific car, when I arrived the elevator wasn’t working so it was no prob horrible to put it lightly. I was told to wait and see if they could fix it. Thankfully they were able to get the elevator working and I was able to test drive. I wanted to proceed to see if this was something within my budget. I then talked with several of the team members, was told they could make it in my budget which was great news. I agreed and then proceeded to financing, where the monthly payment we had agreed to went up by a significant amount (after providing my $ down already). When I said I needed to think about it, I was met with “you have spent the whole day here and wasted our time” – which wasn’t the case, I spent the whole day at the showroom because of their elevator issue and then waiting on them to come back to me with numbers but I was new to buying a car so I trusted this was the way it was, felt pressure but agreed. I was told I would have the car that day, this ended up not being the case. From what they had told me (and continued to tell me) I couldn’t take the car that day because there was a sensor that needed to be replaced (the blind spot monitoring sensor), I was told it was ordered and it should be about 2-3 weeks for it to come in. I patiently waited and after 3 weeks, I took the car without the sensor being placed and was told I would be alerted when it was in and could bring it in for a quick install. After 11 additional weeks… I had not heard anything about the sensor. Finally, I was told that my car didn’t come with the blind spot monitoring, which I was told it did when purchasing – and my mirrors both have lights on them, as if they should have such sensor. I asked about this, and was met with a response that perhaps the mirrors had been replaced, which sounded ludicrous to me, that my 4 year old vehicle would have had both mirrors replaced and was told “That may have been the case with the mirrors being replaced over the course of the vehicles life usage, I checked with the service dept. and the vehicle never came with blind spot monitors or sensors.” So, I was wondering why if there was not a sensor that I needed for these blind spot monitors, I would be waiting on this part and not be able to take the car the day I got it. I was misled to believe that there was a sensor that was missing, the truth was they were having issues with getting the title. Again, I wasn’t completely clear on normal practice, but a title transfer taking over 3 months was not normal. I continued to follow up and eventually received my title, but not without persistent follow up and many months passing. The entire experience has been very frustrating. Also, when I purchased the vehicle, I was told adding the maintenance plan, everything would be covered, except for tire replacement, at any Alfa dealership and was told I was given it “at cost” since I wasn’t going to be able to take the car home with me that day. So, I added this and the extended warranty feature on to my contract. When it was time for my FIRST use of this maintenance plan – an oil change… I had an appointment scheduled, was called 3 days before and was told that they will no longer be servicing vehicles at my location. I was not offered any other location, I ended up having to pay full price for an oil change at another Alfa location, I reached out to the contract owner to see what to do, and they informed me that it was only at the Alfa Romeo of Manhattan dealership that I could be serviced and if not, that the contract would cover maximum of $50, which is significantly less than the cost, and makes the maintenance plan inordinately expensive for what it is, and that I should cancel the contract since the price they charged me for it far exceeds any benefit I would receive from it.
