Sales managers are rude and obnoxious We leased a Forester and 2 years later purchased a Cross Trek. The sales experiences were both fine. Mark Roberge is a good salesman and a great guy We leased a Forester and 2 years later purchased a Cross Trek. The sales experiences were both fine. Mark Roberge is a good salesman and a great guy. The problem we had was turning in our Forester at the end of the lease. We made an appointment to return the car and based the timing of the delivery of our new Mazda on that appointment. When we got there, they told me we couldn't turn in the car that day, we should come back tomorrow. They gave two reasons. One, they needed paperwork e-mailed to them in advance (not true - according to Chase who handles Subaru leases there is no paperwork). Two, the person who handles this process was not in. No apology for making the appointment and not honoring it. No empathy for the position they put us in - picking up a new car in a few hours but them unwilling to honor the appointment I made. When I told them I was never coming back, they said "Good!" BTW, I called North Reading Subaru from the floor of the Wakefield dealership and asked if I could return my lease to them and they said come right over. The entire return process took 15 minutes. It's a car dealership I don't have much experience with buying cars at dealerships but my experience at Subaru Wakefield was pretty much what I imagined it would be. That b I don't have much experience with buying cars at dealerships but my experience at Subaru Wakefield was pretty much what I imagined it would be. That being said, I could imagine it being a whole lot worse which is why I am clicking "recommend." They will play all the games that you would expect a car dealership to play. They will try to deflect your counter-offer because the Sales Manger is in a meeting, they will take forever getting a response from the Sales Manager as if this isn't something they do dozens of times a day, they will say whatever it is they think you want to hear even if they contradict something they previously said, they will play the "four square" game even after you repeatedly and explicitly state that you are only interested in negotiating sales price, they will try to do every little obnoxious thing that makes the car buying process terrible other than just talking to you like a reasonably intelligent person. Even when you think that you have things settled they will hand you off to the finance guy (I don't recall his name, he's a young guy) who will try to pull something over on you again, even feeding you unnecessarily factually inaccurate information (for me it was about the doc fee) that only serves to irritate you more on your way out the door. As previous reviews mentioned, Finance Guy doesn't make any eye contact, is very rushed and in no way makes you feel comfortable about what's going on. All in all it seems like a pretty straightforward car dealership, the operative words being "car dealership," so go in with that expectation. Fortunately, it's a Subaru dealership so you shouldn't have to go through the process again for a long time. More

Many well meaning friends tell me to avoid dealer service because of cost but I've had years of trouble free service at Subaru of Wakefield while I've heard horror stories galore from the same good friends. Excellent shopping experience They were kind, efficient and they gave me the best price of all the 5 dealers I contacted. I left feeling I had got the best possible deal. We were immediately warmly greeted by John Cheshire, one of the sales staff. John's relaxed and friendly demeanor put us at ease. It was easy to tell that he enjoyed working at Wakefield Subaru, and that he had vast experience and knowledge of the vehicles. My wife and I had understandable trepidation about the whole car buying experience, but the entire process did not feel like any pressured sales tactics, including the finance staff member Ken. All of the various options were clearly laid out, and there did not seem to be any judgements made on our decision whether to accept something or not. We met their service staff and all were very friendly. We especially thank John Cheshire for his cordial honest professionalism and interpersonal skills helping us through the process. More

Reasonable dealer Low stress experience which was nice. I am ready and able to haggle to get the best price but I would prefer not to. I visited a few different dealers Low stress experience which was nice. I am ready and able to haggle to get the best price but I would prefer not to. I visited a few different dealerships before settling on Subaru of Wakefield. I had a fair amount of back and forth on the phone with them to agree on a price. Although they did try to upsell me a little it was less than other dealers and they honored the price I was quoted. Perry was very helpful and the whole process happened with minimum drama. I would certainly recommend them if someone was looking for a Subaru. More
