Used Advantage BMW for yrs, excellent service (Kevin Kommany), quite disappointed and surprised that my level 1 maintenance warranty @ 40kmi didn’t cover a $3,000 cost for an active safety sensor chip f Kommany), quite disappointed and surprised that my level 1 maintenance warranty @ 40kmi didn’t cover a $3,000 cost for an active safety sensor chip for 2019 X5 40. Traded my 2018 X5 40 for 2019 X5 40 SOLELY to upgrade from passive safety warning package to active safety warning package … how is it that replacing that chip would cost more that my upgrade to the entire active safety package? The upgrade was cost justified, this chip cost is NOT. Had I known that my Level 1 maintenance package would not cover this would have done something different. Further, is this chip a maintenance item? Who would think this. I’m concerned now what to do? Buy another BMW or Mercedes. Pay $3,00 to replace, probably not, as I’ll be at risk for other chips or other surprises not DETAILED or covered at 40k mi. This is my 3rd BMW after 2 Lexus 300 series sport sedans—in almost every way BMWs exceed the Lexus brand. Appears BMW brand warranty coverage, once the best, have fallen. I am fully aware of chip issues, would have expected cost $300-600, but 3,000–this possibility should have been made clear when I upgraded warranty (I’ve had 5 premium cars since 1998 with no intention of ever going 50mi before trade—this event has changed my paradigm of warranties & costs, and now, brand). I would like an explanation of this chip cost. More
Great communication and nice loaner car. My only complaint is that they knew I was picking it up at 7:15 on Monday morning and when we arrived, the car was dirtier than when we left it. Obviously my car sat outside Saturday ( during the storm) and Sunday night. They offered to re wash it but sadly I had a work meeting and could not wait. It is the little details that make a dealership EXCELLENT and they failed in this regard. Now I have to pay to have it detailed plus waste my time to get it done. More
