Updated review: warning about scam Updated review (April 2017): The salesman told us we would save money by using biweekly payment plan in which money would be taken out of our bank acc Updated review (April 2017): The salesman told us we would save money by using biweekly payment plan in which money would be taken out of our bank account every two weeks and sent to Wells Fargo, our finance company. He said this would result in a term reduction of 6 months and a savings of $1,452. He never said a word to us about any fees, and there is absolutely nothing in our paperwork about fees for using this service. We said fine. When we finally got our first statement from Wells Fargo, almost 2 months after we bought the car, it showed that only the minimum payment had been made, even though we had had 3 half payments withdrawn from our account. So I went to the website for "smartpaymentplan.com" and found out that there is a hefty membership fee for using this service. I would NEVER had agreed to this had I known. Anyone can easily pay their Wells Fargo car loan online and easily include extra principal, for FREE. So why is AP Fairfax selling this ripoff service from smartpaymentplan.com? No doubt they are getting a cut of the membership fee. I am trying to get out of this now, but other potential buyers be warned. BTW, here is what the BBB had to say about smartpaymentplan.com: BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning fees not being disclosed to customers at the time they contracted with the company's services. SMART Payment Plan offers a service that allows customers to automatically debit smaller bill/loan payments to match their paydays. The business states that this results in a faster payoff of their loans by paying less in interest and making extra loan payments over the course of a year. For automobile loans, customers are offered SMART Payment Plan's services at the dealerships. Customers have alleged that the dealership selling these services do not disclose all fees that are involved, including (1) $399.00 Membership Fee and (2) Per Debit Fee of $1.95 for customers paid bi-weekly or twice per month ($.98 cents for those paid weekly or $4.95 for those paid monthly). Original review: We had our eye on a particular car at AP Fairfax for a few weeks. We stopped in on a Thursday afternoon and left with the car just a few hours later. Unfortunately we were unable to keep the appointment for various reasons. When I called back, I spoke with Faheem Malik, who was more than gracious and agreed to meet me even though it was close to closing time. We test drove the car, and he assured me that this car was a good choice for my current needs and situation. He encouraged me to lock it in as soon as possible. This is my first time purchasing a car and I wanted to consult with my mom, but my phone battery was low. Faheem lent me his phone and even talked to her. He convinced us both to move forward asap since that deal wouldn't be around for long - slight pressure (not in a pushy way), but I'm so glad we followed his guidance. Alex Diani also stayed late and walked me through the paperwork. He was very patient, and answered all of my first-time-car-buyer questions. When I returned to pick up the car, I met Zack Owens and enjoyed a pleasant exchange before I finalized things with Faheem. Great interactions all around!
