Made an appointment to meet with Yanni today to have them do a lease buyout of my 2023 Kia Telluride S.
I was running late, and updating and apologizing to Yanni for doing so via email. Meanwhile, Yanni had agreed via email to value my car at $29k if all was good with it once they looked at it in person. Yanni never came out to meet with me. I would understand if the place was full, but it was completely empty.
The first sales person thought I wanted to buy my Kia from the dealer, & offered me to buy it at $31.5k. When I corrected him that I wanted them to buy me out instead, I was offered $25k with no explanation why after sitting around for over an hour. The car is in perfect condition except for a very thin scratch on the back door which I was willing to negotiate off the $29k Yanni offered via email. Since Yanni never showed up, I mailed him/her about my disappointment, and that I wanted to potentially lease a new Telluride there. All of the sudden crickets, when until I got there Yanni was very responsive and quick to respond to my emails. Very unethical, and shady.

Jose, thanks for taking the time to share this in detail. We do want to clarify one thing for anyone reading this: a lease buyout and a trade-in/purchase offer are two different numbers. The buyout is the residual value set at the time the lease was originally signed, plus sales tax and any remaining payments, and that residual cannot be changed at this point regardless of the vehicle's condition or current market value. A trade-in or purchase offer is a separate number, what we'd pay for the car based on condition and market value at the time it's appraised. Those aren't interchangeable, and it sounds like that distinction may have gotten lost somewhere between the email conversation and the in-person visit.
That said, we understand how frustrating it is to wait around for over an hour without a clear explanation, especially after coordinating by email ahead of time. We did not meet your expectations for how that visit should have gone, and for that we are sorry. This is exactly the kind of feedback that helps us tighten up how we handle appointments going forward.

Thank you for clarifying, but I'm aware of the difference between a lease buyout and trade-in/ purchase offer. Even if there was a misunderstanding via email, the way it was handled at the dealership was I felt unprofessional. My vehicle was in perfect condition, and was given a low ball offer on it. I even showed him that other companies valued it way higher than you were offering, but unfortunately Kia doesn't allow third party sales. When I mentioned to the sales person you sent (who inspected my car inside & out) why the low ball offer if the car is in great condition, his only answer was "then go ahead & sell it to them"...knowing very well I can't because Kia doesn't allow it. I understand the dealer is only interested in making money as it is a business at the end of the day. However, the dismissive tone wasn't appreciated, and he didn't even ask if I was looking for a new vehicle as well....which I was. I ended up purchasing elsewhere that day. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my review, and for the apology.
