I am giving William Hayes 5 stars for taking care of me once arriving at the dealship. I developed a sudden flat tire and discovered that the BMW wheel-lock key was missing from my car. This was my first tire issue since purchasing the vehicle, so I had no reason to know it was not there. I immediately told BMW Roadside Assistance that the wheel-lock key was missing and specifically asked that this be noted on the service call. After several transfers, a technician was dispatched—but he had not been told about the missing wheel-lock key and could not help. He left, and I remained stranded. I was fortunate to be stranded in a parking lot rather than on the side of a highway, but this occurred during an extreme heat wave. The unnecessary delay caused by dispatching a technician who had not been told about the missing wheel-lock key could have created a serious safety issue under slightly different circumstances. Roadside assistance should be designed to minimize the time a customer is stranded, particularly during extreme weather or in potentially dangerous roadside locations I then had to call BMW Roadside Assistance again, go through additional transfers, and explain the situation repeatedly before a flatbed tow was finally dispatched to take the vehicle to a BMW dealer. What is particularly concerning is that several BMW owners I know have told me they have also discovered their wheel-lock keys missing when they first needed them. Whether this is a dealership process problem, a delivery-control issue, or something else, BMW should investigate it. This incident resulted in two roadside-assistance dispatches, an unnecessary failed service call, a flatbed tow, significant inconvenience, and damage to BMW's reputation—all potentially because a small piece of equipment was missing from the vehicle. I would like BMW to: - Investigate why my wheel-lock key was missing and determine whether this is a broader dealer or delivery-process issue. - Review why Roadside Assistance failed to communicate the missing wheel-lock information to the first technician. -Confirm what corrective action BMW will take to prevent other customers from experiencing the same problem. BMW should analyze this incident as a process failure rather than simply close it as another roadside-assistance call. The cost of preventing this problem would have been minimal compared with the cost and customer frustration created by it. More
