This visit was highly unsatisfactory. We had what we thought was a warranty issue, but could not get KIA to offer us even the slightest opportunity for resolution. Two years ago, our 2012 Sorento began thought was a warranty issue, but could not get KIA to offer us even the slightest opportunity for resolution. Two years ago, our 2012 Sorento began using oil. More than one dealer told us it would have to be fixed through a recall/class action suit. No one would give us any reasons why the oil consumption was so high. When we tried to press for a solution through the class action suit, we were told this problem did not qualify, still without defining what the "problem" actually was. Finally, the service tech manager told us for KIA to fix this problem, we would actually need the Check Oil light to be on, and the car to be knocking. We were told to bring it in right away when these two circumstances were met. Upon following this directive, we were told they needed to do a diagnostic test (for $140), but since it was a Friday and we didn't have an appointment, that would have to take place on Monday. By Wednesday of the following wee, we still hadn't heard anything. When we called to find out what was happening, and asked what the results of the diagnostic were, we were told that the dealer was waiting to hear back from KIA. No one would tell us what the results were. Finally, a couple of days later, we were told that we did not qualify for an engine replacement. Still no diagnosis. No explanation. When we finally got the dealer manager involved (who was very accommodating and helpful) we received a quote from Service for $7000 to rebuild the engine! At this point, we were told the car had a burnt valve. We tried to use the extended Warranty we had purchased through this dealer, but were told they need to tear down the engine (another $1000 quoted) to find out what the problem was, however, no guarantee that whatever the problem is would be covered. We left after paying the $140 diagnostic fee for which we received no results. We resolve never to return to KIA. More
