Watch out for a bait-and-switch or cash price inflation scam here. Don't trust the OTD price they offerred: I agreed on a final out-the-door price for a Chevy Bolt and put down a cash deposit. I was fully scam here. Don't trust the OTD price they offerred: I agreed on a final out-the-door price for a Chevy Bolt and put down a cash deposit. I was fully prepared to pay off the rest of the balance in cash on the day I received the car. When I went to pick up the car, there was a big scratch on the front. They demanded I pay in full before they would even fix it. Who pays in full for a flawed product without seeing the repair first? After an hour of arguing with them constantly changing their story, they finally just took a part from another new car on the lot and swapped it onto mine. Then came the finance room. I was fully prepared to pay off the rest of my balance in cash. But at the very last minute, the finance staff pushed me to take out a loan. She warned me that if I didn't finance through them, I would lose the out-the-door price we just agreed on because that price is only applied to a loan agreement. She then rushed me through the signing process on a tablet, flipping the screens very quickly. I found out later they secretly bumped the price of the car way back up to MSRP on the final contract. My cash deposit didn't even go toward reducing my loan balance—it just vanished to cover their hidden price hike. To make matters worse, they completely swallowed my $4,750 in EV and Costco rebates. Instead of lowering my final cost, they applied my rebates merely to cover their secretly inflated markup. When I called management, they basically said there's nothing wrong on their side, the deal was between me and the dealer, they don't know. In fact, they just kept kicking the ball around. I've already filed a formal complaint with CA DMV Investigations, the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs and will get to the Auto fraud Lawyer My advice: Never sign anything on a tablet here. Make them print the final paper contract first so you can actually read it. For every verbal conversation, record it. And also, don't let the number trick you. I'd rather go to another dealership than spend time and take a risk with this dealership. More
