Valley Honda responded

Dear Steven, Thank you again for your valued feedback on your experience at Valley Honda. As I stated in my prior communication, I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you about your service experience here at Valley Honda. This morning I met with our Master Technician, Gary Albrecht, and our Assistant Service Manager Luke Martinez to discuss the recommendations made regarding your vehicle. Your brake pads were completely worn and your brake rotors were measured by technician Gary. They specifically measured below the 8mm Honda specification for thickness of brake rotors. This is not uncommon for a 15 year old vehicle with almost 170,000 miles driven. On your November 18, 2014 service visit, we noted that your brake pads were very close to needing replacement but we did NOT recommend replacement at that time. Certainly brake pads can be replaced using non-Honda parts for less money, however, we have seen many situations in which our clients have been dissatisfied with non-Honda brake pad performance, therefore, we continue to use only the quality, genuine, Honda parts our customers expect . Regarding the rotors, it is certainly possible to put brake pads on the vehicle without addressing out-of-specification rotors. However, we believe that following Honda specifications in terms of brake rotor measurement will provide, most importantly, the highest level of safety and performance for your vehicle. Again, our customers expect that we will follow Honda recommendations and specifications 100%. The second item we recommended and quoted for $508 is to replace the right upper control arm assembly because the ball joint is noticeably loose. This may be the repair quote you mentioned was 'close to $700'. In speaking with technician Gary Albrecht, he noted that the ball joint is loose and 'has play' in it. This is an important safety issue, in our opinion. When a ball joint is loose and has play in it, there is risk to our customer's vehicle of separation which would cause the wheel to fall inward or outward potentially causing the driver to lose control of the car. I feel it is our responsibility to always alert our customers of a condition in which their safety is at risk. Of course, should our customer elect not to proceed with the repair, we have at the very least alerted them to the condition of their vehicle. If you would, I'd love to meet with you, our technician (Gary Albrecht) and Asst. Service Manager (Luke Martinez) to discuss this further. My goal is to re-gain your trust and confidence and to work with you to ensure that your vehicle is safe. Sincerely, Bob Navarre Owner Valley Honda (630) 851-5700 (Office) (708) 987-3000 (cell)

Dear Steven, My name is Bob Navarre and I am the owner of Valley Honda. First of all, I would like to thank you for providing feedback on your experience with my service department. First thing this morning, I tried to make a connection with your name and the situation that you described in your review. However, I have been unable match our paperwork without more information (the review only shows me your screen name: Steven). If you would be so kind as to provide your last name, this will allow me to investigate the situation fully and then further respond to you. I apologize sincerely for your poor experience with my company and I intend to fully investigate the situation. My goal is always to do what's reasonably possible to earn your trust and confidence and I will certainly do that if given an opportunity. I welcome you, in fact, would love for you to give me a call as well if you would be so kind. Sincerely, Bob Navarre Owner, Valley Honda Office: (630) 851-5700 Cell: (708) 987-3000
