On February 18, I contacted the service department regarding an issue with my Jeep Wrangler’s auto start/stop function, which wasn’t working. Given that my vehicle only had 27,000 miles, I provided them with the VIN number, and they confirmed it should be covered under warranty. Based on this information, I scheduled an appointment for February 20. However, upon arrival, the service advisor informed me that my warranty had expired on February 1, 2025, and that a diagnostic test would be required at a cost of $269. This was frustrating because had I been informed on February 18 that my Jeep was already out of warranty and that the repair wouldn’t be covered under the powertrain warranty, I wouldn’t have brought it in at all. While I understand that service advisors are trained to generate revenue, transparency and honesty should be a priority. I had done my research and found out that Jeep has had ongoing issues with the auto start/stop system. The service department should have been upfront with coverage policies, rather than letting me come in under the false impression that the repair would be covered. Ultimately, I chose not to proceed with the repair after receiving a quote of $1,795. I voiced my concerns to the General Manager about the lack of honesty and customer service, and to their credit, they understood my frustration and waived the diagnostic fee. Customer service and trust are everything in this industry. Treating customers fairly ensures they return, even if prices are slightly higher. In the past eight years, I’ve purchased two Jeeps Wranglers for my daughter, choosing to drive to the McKinney location despite Frisco being just 2.1 miles away. Unfortunately, this experience reaffirmed why I continue to take my business elsewhere. More
