I recently bought a used car at Swickard anchorage. The car is completely paid for and it has been over three months and I am still waiting for a title and registration. I called the DMV yesterday and was told the dealership haven't even applied for either. My husband and I have been in on five separate occasions and keep getting different excuses. the latest (yesterday) was that the car originally had an E-title and that it could take up to nine weeks to get a paper title! Like I said, it's already been over three months! They also keep issuing me temporary plates that as far as I have researched via Alaska Statute 28.10.031, can only be issued once per vehicle for a max time of 60 days. they may not be extended or renewed or a second temp tag issued after 60 days. after that they are no longer valid. Driving with expired temp tag can result in the possibility of fines, car impound. insurance rate increase, points on driving record and the hassle of having to fight the charge in court. when I mentioned this to the general manager Wendy Wilkins) she told me not to believe everything I read on the internet. and that if I get caught the dealership would pay the fines. so, I guess that means that they are quite aware of the fact that they are sending me out in an illegal vehicle and they just don't care. I'm tired of getting the run around from this shady as xxxx dealer. do yourself a favor and buy somewhere else.
