I have a 2016 smart for two that the dealership has failed to correct the random activation of the alarm system. It goes on at random times of the night. They cannot fix it for the life of them. Their final solution was to disconnect the alarm system? Really? A car that’s under warranty multiple attempts to fix it and your solution is to disconnect it? The other issue is when they replaced the headlight they completely misaligned they bumper and the hood and broke one of the clips from the lights. They asked me to bring it back after sending them pictures. They said oh yeah. We screwed up because it’s a difficult part to replace but everything still remains misaligned and the clip still broken. I am tired of making pointless trips here and leaving my car to come pick it up again at another time or day. Better to pay for local mechanic than go here for anything! They know more about the car than the dealership itself. The car is purchased for work and my wife is to purchase a Mercedes after the quarantine, and it definitely will not be from this dealership. More
Carelessness I picked up my Smart car after scheduled service. Paid the bill (over $500.00) and left the dealership. While on the West Side highway I heard unusual noise from the rear of the car. I exited on 79th street and pulled to the curb. I looked in the cargo area behind the seats and saw that the rear speaker was not attached and that the tension divider was not in place. I immediately returned to the service department and was directed to a designated spot. A technician came and attached the speaker. Then we noticed that there were 5 lugnuts. The carpet was raised and it revealed that the metal plate over the engine housing was not secured in place. The technician affixed the lugnuts and attached the tension divider. No apology, no nothing. When I was asked to rate my experience by the service advisor I related what I said here. I said I was very dissatisfied and suggested that I should not have to pay for the service. I have had no response from the service advisor. I asked for the name of the service supervisor but no reply. More
2018 Smart ED from Mercedes-Benz Manhattan I have to reserve my review based on perspective. Nicole, my representative was great, just a naturally nice person that was pleasant to deal with. I have read many, many reviews on this dealership. They seem to vary so wildly I don’t think my opinion is necessary at the moment. A 2018 Smart ED I leased is presently at the dealership. Personally, in any business, the customer is always right. Communication has a great deal to do with every sale. Misunderstandings can sometimes occur which can easily be resolved. Each party has to be willing to give. No one should take. Saying one thing, meaning another with no follow up can lead to say, no communication whatsoever. It would be like a bunch of random numbers, 4253 or 0444 or let’s gamble, 7455. All can be resolutely solved with understanding and patience. All have to be willing sort it. More
I had been in contact with Elaine (smart brand manager) at MB/smart center Manhattan for a few days before making the 3 hour drive from Western Mass to Manhattan. She was extremely friendly over the phone, but I was expecting high pressure sales tactics when she had me there on the sales floor. Upon ariving at the dealership, I was shocked by the facility itself. It was georgous! Anyway, once I made my way upstairs and into the main MB showroom I was once again, stunned. They had one of every MB model on the floor, unlocked and there for you to check out. Even though I was there for smart, I decided to take a look around the Benz's. One thing I noticed was there was no pressure whatsoever, even with the Mercedes sale staff. People were walking through the vehicles, looking at everything, and there was no one there hounding them. This gave me some hope as I made my way over to the smart section of the building. Once on the smart side of the facility, Elaine greeted me and after a little Q&A, she put the emails and phone calls together, and knew who I was. She recalled things we talked about right away, and we started discussing the colors, and options that I was interested in. I was actually pretty surprised that she recalled every detail of what we discussed over the phone. I thought I would have to rewind back through everything I already told her, especially in such a high volume dealership, but there was no need. She remembered everything. We talked about the specific color combo I wanted, with the options, and I was told this was nothing she had in stock (which I expected). We decided that it would be best to wait for the 2014s to start being produced, and come back to order what I specifically wanted. At this point, I expected Elaine to attempt to convince me that I didn't need any of those options, and try to push a stocked vehicle on me, to make a sale. There wasn't even the slightest attempt. I was shocked. Elaine then continued to talk to me just about the vehicles in general, and new options, for at least another 30 minutes. I was extremely impressed at the professionalism of the staff at Mercedes Benz/smart center Manhattan. This was the first ZERO PRESSURE MB store I've ever set foot in. I was expecting a bunch of sales people jumping all over you trying to make a sale, but this was not the case at all. Very surprising. Again, if your looking for a new smart, go visit Elaine. It'll be worth your time! If your in the Manhattan area, just stop by and take a look at the new facility. It's like nothing you've ever seen before! More
