Toyota of Rock Hill

Recently needed to get a new key cut to be able to start our 2014 Corolla. Key was lost on weekend so called AAA and locksmith could not program the key to start the car. I contacted Toyota of Rock Hill a our 2014 Corolla. Key was lost on weekend so called AAA and locksmith could not program the key to start the car. I contacted Toyota of Rock Hill and was told over the phone that they could program it for $260.00. Had car towed there and took the key in and was told that since key was from locksmith that it may not program so my choices were: to order a key from them for $289 and spend about $520 in labor (2 1/2 hour labor charge) to get it programmed: or spend the $520 for labor to try programming my key. If the latter was unsuccessful I would have to go with the first option. Neither option is affordable and it would have been horrible if the key had been lost far from home. It's a racket and the consumer is on the losing end. Had no choice but to buy their key and pay exorbitant labor fee. To top it all off at the end of the transaction when they try to loop you into extra necessary maintenance - they told me the serpentine belt was frayed and cracked. I literally replaced the belt myself six months ago. SAD! At least Ryan was pleasant to work with, very apologetic. More

The car was in for a routine oil change and tire rotation since it was a 2022 model.
