We called about a used Volvo and were sold on the idea that the car was in excellent condition. We put a deposit down and flew 400 miles to buy the car and drive home. We made arrangements to arrive on a specific day and even emailed a couple days before to confirm. When we arrived to the dealership, the appearance of the car was horrible. We couldn't believe it was the same car! It was dirty inside and out, it had scratches and lots of cosmetic issues. The front headlamp was all fogged up. When we turned the car on, it blew HOT air from the a/c. Jeff (the owner) was not on site at this time. The service guy kept rambling on that the headlamp was fogged up because they parked the car facing the wrong direction... making us even more angry that he would treat us like we were idiots! Once Jeff arrived, he had the service guy charge the a/c and ASSURED us that it must be a "smaller than pinhole sized leak" in the a/c, but it was definitely not the compressor! He told us we needed to put "blinders on to the cosmetics issues because it is such a mechanically sound vehicle". WRONG! By the time we drove the car home, the a/c had completely died. We also started having issues when the car would first start, and then immediately die. We had to pay $1,100 for diagnostics and a brand new a/c compressor. But WAIT, I thought the owner assured us that it was NOT the compressor??? Oh yeah, people LIE and there is nothing you can do about it once you have driven the car home! Except for writing a review in hopes that someone reads it and is fore-warned about dealers with BAD business practices!! Do not be fooled by the warranty "spiel" either. Penn Warranty company does not even pay 50% of the cost that it takes to fix problems. Our volvo is still having major mechanical issues and on top of that we are having to pay to get the car fully detailed because it is such a dirty mess and was never cleaned up for our arrival! Jeff's wfe made a slighted comment when we first arrived claiming she wished she would have known we were coming because they would have gotten the car ready. I guess calling and emailing to confirm our arrival date and time was not enough. We wish we would have simply taken a cab back to the airport and paid for 2 plane tickets home!! BUYERS BEWARE!!! I was amazed and happy to spend my money when I saw that it was a genuine deal and the cars were as described. I was also impressed that on both cars I had shortlisted had been fully serviced, including a cam belt replacement - which took a whole lot of worry from me. it was a no pressure sales approach, when I arrived I was given a sheet of paper with the important details of all the cars on the lot, i was able to have a good look and make my own choice. the price was fixed but fair, it was a simple honest approach. I liked dealing with Torchlight and would recommend them to anyone. More

My wife and I were recently in the market for a used volvo. They recommended visit Torch Light's website. There we found many Volvo that would potentially fit our needs and budget. So we packed up the kids and drove 6 hours to Torch Light's location in NJ. I must admit we were immediately taken back at the very laid back way they handled us. We first were greeted by Herb who gave us an inventory list and quick overview of the lot and left us to do our thing. Herb was very patient with us as we looked at about 6 different volvos and test drove 4 of them. We found all the cars to be clean both mechanically and physically which actually made our decision making much more difficult. So after 3 hours of looking, touching and feeling we decided on a 2005 xc90. We went into the office and met Jeff (the owner). Very friendly and personable. At no time did my wife or I feel like we were in the midst of buying a car. It felt more like a get together with some old friends. Easy, low key, no stress and dare I say fun. Well we have since driven back home and put on almost 1500 miles since the purchase. We LOVE our new used volvo. Thank you Jeff and Herb for a great experience that hopefully other people will also get to experience at Torch Light Motors. More

I had decided that buying new wasn't really a good value, but was struggling to find quality used cars. Having been a Volvo owner for more than 25 years and taken several cars over 250K miles, I was thrilled but was struggling to find quality used cars. Having been a Volvo owner for more than 25 years and taken several cars over 250K miles, I was thrilled to find Torchlight Motors back in 2005. I still have the 2001 XC70 that I bought back then with 50K miles. It now has 180K with no issues whatsoever. I have since purchased four more cars from Torchlight with great success. They sell cars well below "dealer" pricing so the value is there. Jeff has also turned me on to the mechanic that inspects/repairs all of the cars that he buys before they are put on the lot. I was just there last week and saw five Torchlight in the lot waiting for inspection. Great savings compared to the local Volvo dealer!!!! Nobody is perfect, but I certainly don't understand all of the negative reviews. My dealings with Torchlight have been great. I would recommend Torchlight to my best friend. More
