Stohlman Volkswagen

I moved to Virginia from California on Wednesday. On Thursday I came in to the dealership and bought a Subaru Ascent. I chose Stohlman because they were the closest dealer to my house, but I lucked out Thursday I came in to the dealership and bought a Subaru Ascent. I chose Stohlman because they were the closest dealer to my house, but I lucked out with Matthew who is part tech genius and part car/audio enthusiast. Peter helped me get the warranty I wanted. I actually messed up and chose the wrong warranty -- noticed later that night after the papers were all signed -- called Peter and he had me come in to make the adjustment. I was horrified about the mistake and thought I would be stuck with it forever... but instead Peter had the change order waiting for me to sign when I returned -- no charge! Thank you for this great Welcome to Virginia! Oh, and did I mention that I got a great price? PS I feel a bit odd raving about my experience on some ratings website... but it truly was a "five star experience". Thanks again everyone! More

Set an appointment for a little service. Took our much loved Subaru in. Grabbed one of their bikes, just like I've heard advertised on the radio and rode the trail. To save your time and sanity avoid like a plague! Bait and switch does not begin to describe this terrible dealership. Then prior to leaving and driving 1 1:2 hours to get there I tested George to verify we were coming and he said “see you soon”. When we arrived he said “oh I’m sorry that vehicle sold yesterday.” He completely lied and wasted 3 hours of my life. Never going back to this dealer. I highly recommend going somewhere else that won’t lie to you. More

I have been raving to my friends and colleagues about them, and the Stohlman location in the Tyson’s area can’t be beat. It’s funny to say that I am looking forward to dropping my new car off for maintenance being as location felt so safe and there were so many stores to walk to nearby! I also need to shout out Hesham Kamal in the finance department. That was the part I was most intimidated about, but he made me feel so comfortable and explained every step flawlessly. I left the interaction with him SMILING! Wow, what I great experience, overall! More

The person I arranged to meet was not there when I arrived after a three-hour drive. One of his staff instead "assisted" me. The salesman did not even know the car I was interested in.. I expected the car to be waiting for me out front but it took 15 minutes to locate the car. It took another 3+ hours to negotiate! Stay away! More

Worst Service Visit Ever. This review is for the service department, specificity the service advisor, Jack Smith. I brought my 2018 GTI in this morning to have the drivers seat looked at because the seat bottom was creaking loudly when making turns at low speeds or when shifting in the seat. I am from Maryland and this dealership is by no means close to me, but I made the trip first thing this morning out to Tyson’s because they were the highest rated VW dealership in the DMV and I am very particular about who services my car. I made the appointment with Marcus but was told when I arrived at 7am that he was not in today and they instead put me with Jack Smith. Right off the bat he didn’t introduce himself and blatantly asked, “why are you here?”. I told him my concerns and that I made an appointment. He put me on a test drive with the shop foreman who confirmed the noise I was hearing. I was fully prepared to wait a few hours while they looked at the seat, though upon arriving back at the dealer, Jack came out, sat in my drivers seat and turned to me and said, “it’s a GTI, they make noises. That’s the kind of car you bought.” I’ve had the car 7 months and only have 3,000 miles on it. I refuse to believe that that was normal and I was shocked that a service advisor basically told me that it was a normal occurrence and that they could do little to nothing about it. I told him that I couldn’t believe his response, how dismissive he was about my concern and took my keys and left. I decided that, since I took the day off from work to get this issue addressed, to drive back to Maryland to VW of Laurel where I leased the car from originally and get a second opinion. Within 30 mins of my being there they had road tested the car, confirmed the noise, and had 3 technicians looking at the seat to get an idea as to what it was. Turns out the frame of the seat bottom was the cause and they ordered a replacement and will be covering it at no cost. I will never forget how dismissive and basically rude Jack was to me and will never be going back, for service or otherwise, to Stohlman VW. More
