I brought my 2013 Honda Accord in to determine the source of difficulty shifting into first gear while stopped and higher gears while driving (manual transmission). I was told that the clutch and flywheel wo of difficulty shifting into first gear while stopped and higher gears while driving (manual transmission). I was told that the clutch and flywheel would need to be replaced with an estimated cost of $3460. After getting a second opinion, my clutch only needed to be adjusted (hydraulically set position). This resolved my issue to the tune of $86 from the other shop. I am disappointed that the dealership didn’t even explore this as a potential resolution. Instead, they chose to quote me a significantly more expensive and unnecessary repair. Additionally, I was charged a $126 diagnosis fee which I have never experienced at this location over the past 10 years. It’s worth noting that I have been getting my car serviced by Harrisonburg Honda since its purchase in 2016. However, they were apparently purchased by Steven as it is now Steven Honda. Whether this is related to the new ownership and their policies is unknown, but it is in line with other stories of dishonest repair and diagnosis practices by Steven-associated dealerships in the area from several friends and reviews. I found the cost was higher than the past for my service. I drive from Charlottesville to have my car serviced here. I bought my car here and I trust the service I get here.
