Even with the dealer fees, the overall deal was very reasonable. I had never really considered Mazda before, but after driving the CX-50 Hybrid, I was sold. It honestly feels crafted by an artist rather than simply manufactured. Very happy with my purchase and grateful to everyone who helped me. They also included a lifetime warranty. Hopefully I never need it, but if I do, I’ll come back and update this review with my honest experience of whether it actually helped. More

That loyalty was met with one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a car dealership. Previously I had a very positive experience with this Mazda dealership — this visit was a stark contrast. Part of the reason I kept coming back to this dealership was Abby Cook. I originally bought a car from her when she was a salesperson, and last summer, when she'd moved up to manager, she was so willing to work with me on a deal. I ended up going with a Toyota instead of the Mazda I was looking at with her at the time, but that experience stuck with me and is a big part of why this dealership stayed on my list. This time, the salesman himself was pleasant to deal with. I told him upfront I was looking for the best price and wasn't there to play games — I just wanted their best number at the door, before I revealed what I'd been quoted elsewhere. He came back with a price $2,000 over my best offer without even knowing what that number was. At that point I told him I wasn't there for games, said "if you want to make a deal, give me a call," and got up and walked out. The salesperson came out after me along with a tall gentleman I assumed was a manager, who was quite pleasant and asked if I could just wait while they tried to work something out and beat the competitive offer. I sat in my car in the parking lot and waited. Unfortunately, that pleasant gentleman was not the one who came back out — instead it was a short manager with a beard, who never introduced himself and had a noticeably abrasive attitude from the start. I mentioned my history with Abby Cook and how her service was a big reason I kept coming back. He responded by badmouthing her, saying she was "horrible" and that's why she was let go. I corrected him and said I'd actually had a great experience with her — but the tone of the conversation had already soured. He eventually offered a price $200 under my competing quote, presented as a take-it-or-leave-it deal. When I told him I still needed to find out what my trade-in was worth from him, another dealer, and probably CarMax before deciding, he seemed offended, turned around, and walked away without another word. I want to share my recent experience with Southern Palms Mazda as a cautionary tale for anyone considering doing business with the dealership. I recently decided to explore options for exiting my wife’s Mazda as a cautionary tale for anyone considering doing business with the dealership. I recently decided to explore options for exiting my wife’s 2024 Mazda CX-5 lease early. The vehicle is only two years old, has very low mileage, has always been garage-kept, and is in excellent condition with no scratches or dents—in other words, what the car business would call “front-line ready.” After doing my homework and obtaining several offers, I contacted Southern Palms Mazda, believing that, as a Mazda dealership, they might place a premium on acquiring one of their own vehicles. Over the course of the previous week, my wife and I had received multiple calls from the dealership as part of what appeared to be an “equity mining” campaign designed to move existing customers into new vehicles. I called to inquire for their quote. I spoke with Gabriella Castilla and explained my situation. She enthusiastically responded, “Come in—we need your car.” After hearing the details, she specifically offered me $27,000 for the vehicle, saying that if the car was as described, we had a deal. Before agreeing to come in, I made it very clear that I did not want to waste my time playing games. The same evening, I visited the dealership, where Robert Nelson, the Customer Experience Manager, was expecting me. I handed over the keys for an inspection and waited for the appraisal results. Robert returned and informed me that the dealership would only offer $26,500. I immediately explained that this was not the offer Gabriella had made and reiterated that the vehicle was exactly as represented. I asked to speak with the used car manager to understand why the offer had changed by $500. Unfortunately, the manager, Fabio, declined to meet with me directly. Robert—who handled the situation professionally and was not responsible for the original commitment—called Gabriella on her cell phone, as she had already left for the day. Gabriella’s response was disappointing. She stated that if the used car manager had lowered the offer, there was nothing she could do. In my view, she either misrepresented the dealership’s intentions or made promises she did not have the authority to keep. This was my third Mazda lease and, regrettably, it will be my last. I understand that vehicle values can change after an in-person inspection, but when a customer is assured of a specific number based on a detailed description of a vehicle, that commitment should be honored—or at the very least, explained by management face-to-face. The issue here is not the $500 difference. It is the principle. Customers deserve honesty, transparency, and respect for their time. I intend to share my experience with the dealership group Automotive Management Services Inc.and Mazda corporate, as I believe consumers should be aware of how this situation was handled.
