I recently took my 2003 TL in for the 60K service. The customer service rep called me and told me that the ball joints needed to be replaced. He said that this was a safety item and that it would not pass customer service rep called me and told me that the ball joints needed to be replaced. He said that this was a safety item and that it would not pass the state safety inspection. This made me suspicious, because I had just had the state inspection performed on the car the previous week and the inspector said that everything looked great. I therefore declined to have Pohanka replace the ball joints, but after I had picked the car up I took it to a reputable auto repair shop and had them inspect the ball joints. They could not find any problems. I can only conclude that either the Pohanka mechanic was incompetent, or they were trying to run up my bill with unnecessary work. Either way, this is why I rated their customer service, quality of work, and overall experience so low. The customer service rep was polite but condescending. The pricing was average. More
I contacted this dealership in regards to COSTCO auto program and expecting to purchase the Acura TSX in the very near future. The customer service I received was beyond reprehensible. Their representa program and expecting to purchase the Acura TSX in the very near future. The customer service I received was beyond reprehensible. Their representative felt the need to sell me a car other than the one I had already decided to purchase. When I asked for information regarding the car I was interested in I was ignored and to this day have not received any correspondence regarding the information I had requested. I will never do business with Pohanka in the future. FYI, I purchased the automobile I was interested in from Radley Acura in Woodbridge and the service (so far) has been excellent. More
Initial visit, salesman not very helpful with features of the car, didn't explain much. Overall experience was less than satisfactory. Price quoted was for my car choice, which was supposedly in stock, onl the car, didn't explain much. Overall experience was less than satisfactory. Price quoted was for my car choice, which was supposedly in stock, only to find car was not in stock, was told if they had to order the car there would be a price increase - "bait and switch" not sure, then was told car would be delivered on a certain date, only to find car not delivered on certain date, not sure when delivery will be made. They just don't seem to have their act together. More
This guy that I dealt with solely by online was the most arrogant /rude salesman I have dealt with. I had requested quotes from Acura but ended buying Lexus. Out of courtesy I notified this guy by email tha arrogant /rude salesman I have dealt with. I had requested quotes from Acura but ended buying Lexus. Out of courtesy I notified this guy by email that I had got Lexus and I would not need any further quites. The guy sends me an email ridiculing me about my decision. I was in the market for another car (still I am) - could still be an Acura- but Pohanka definitely lost it's chance because of this rude employee. If I were his manager (I hope he doesnt own this place) I will fire him. More
Very unethical - would not provide an out the door price via email. Said they needed more information regaridng the purchase. We had already provided make, model, year, color, accessories, and indicated tha via email. Said they needed more information regaridng the purchase. We had already provided make, model, year, color, accessories, and indicated that we were buying the car in cash the next seven days. Would only deal over the phone or in person and sent back some ridiculour email about not disclosing the price because they needed to protect my privacy rights. This was an obvious ploy to get me in so they could apply more of thier same tired tricks. Stay away form these people. If the dealer cannot disclose full pricing details w/o haggling you in person, go somewhere else. Sent to same request to Chevy Chase Acura; got a great price with full pricing details promptly and easily More
We wanted a black RSX Type-S witha six-speed that was listed on their website. Were were told that it was arriving the following week. We were pressured repeatedly to put money down on this car without listed on their website. Were were told that it was arriving the following week. We were pressured repeatedly to put money down on this car without having seen it. Ojo went so far as to tell ust that it had been sold, and then call us the next day to say that it had fallen through. My girlfriend told Ojo that she was tired of his nonsense, and he insulted her and literally hung up on her. At that point, we talked to the Sales manger, Greg Altman, who offered us a lower price and the opportunity to deal directly with him, rather than one of the non-english speaking sales staff that they roped off the first boat there. Greg and the finance department persuaded us, against our better judgement, to sign the paperwork for this car, and sign a check for $3500 as a down payment that they would hold until the car arrived and we decided to accept it. The car was already late at that point, and was scheduled to come in Friday. Not only did it not come in, but they decided to reward theirselves by cashing our check. Th finance manager said that he was sorry, he didn't know what happened, ad he couldn't fix it. At this time, we have been waiting 22 days for this vehicle. here are some great big piles of crap that Greg Altman has tried to shovel on us so far: -The car will be here tomorrow/next week/Friday/Saturday/etc -They (Acura) don't tell us (the dealership) when the cars are coming in. -It's at the port in Baltimore -The unions are in control of the whole situation -It's out of our hands -Don't shoot the messenger -I personally spoke with the truck driver and he said it will be here tomorrow. I could go on, but the point is, that if you want to buy an Acura, then I advise you to do anything, and I mean ANYTHING to avoid this place. I'm serious. If your choice is between buying from Pohanka Acura and driving to Kansas to buy a more expensive car from an unstable but honest mental patient, go to Kansas. You'll be happier in the end, and you will probably get some sort of actual car, as opposed to what I got; a $3500 hole in my bank account and a lot of B.S. More
Horrbible dealership, this is the kind of dealership that represents the stereotypical "car salesman". Bought a 05 TL at the dealership, did not read about the reviews about this dealership until I ran into represents the stereotypical "car salesman". Bought a 05 TL at the dealership, did not read about the reviews about this dealership until I ran into my own problems. Initially, I told STEVE that I could put down as much money necessary for financing. He checked my credit and said it was not established and that I needed to pay the complete about 34k upfront. I told him that I would come back the next day with a check. During that time, my GF who has a excellent credit and just purchased a Toyota a month earlier suggested that she could co-sign it. Once I arrived at the dealership, STEVE had informed us that he couldn't process it because the CO-SIGNER CAN ONLY BE A BLOOD-RELATIVE. I only figured this out after I contacted American Honda Financing who finances Acura in the US how false and downright misleading STEVE was. I can't believe they get away with such unethical practices, and WARN ALL TO STAY AWAY. The good review left on this forum was most likely their own shady employees. I am currently consulting a lawyer to see if there could be any recourse for this misrepresentation. More
I had an Acura Vigor several years back and the timing belt of this sucker needed changing. Seems Acura had installed the bolt too tightly on this vehicle. Bolt broke while repairing, ending up costing belt of this sucker needed changing. Seems Acura had installed the bolt too tightly on this vehicle. Bolt broke while repairing, ending up costing us $900 for a freaking timing belt change, no water pump included! ANyways, we asked them to reconsider since it was not our fault the factory had f'd up. No discount and no recourse allowed. I was wonderin if they have a site for the Pohanka Lexus division? Also once brought my GS300 there once and told them I thought my gas cap was probably just loose and causing my engine light to come on. They checked and confirmed what I thought. Took 5 minutes, $60. Rip off coming and going. When I bought my new LX470, they were $3500 higher than Lindsay Lexus and the other Lexus dealer here in Washington. Seems they dont care about pricing, if you do, go somewhere else! More
Pohanka Acura has not honored the deal that was offered to us at the time of signing. The transaction was totally misrepresented, and we feel that constitutes fraud. We are owed a substantial amount of m to us at the time of signing. The transaction was totally misrepresented, and we feel that constitutes fraud. We are owed a substantial amount of money from the initial deal, and the dealership is unwilling to honor their offer. We will never purchase another vehicle from Pohanka Acura again, and will continue to enlighten friends/family/acquaintances of our negative experience. More
I have filed a complaint of sales fraud that occured when I leased a new 2003 Acura TL model from Pohanka Acura of Chantilly, VA on 4/24/2003. When we worked the deal, I had a 2000 Honda that was near lease I leased a new 2003 Acura TL model from Pohanka Acura of Chantilly, VA on 4/24/2003. When we worked the deal, I had a 2000 Honda that was near lease end and was over the mileage limit. The salesman, Scott Bershader, looked at and drove my car, and said "it’s very clean, we can help you out" since you're leasing with Honda Finance already, because that's who will be the lessor for the TL. (I figured they had a special turn in arrangement) He said he would find out the pay off and left the table. When he came back he said he could turn it in for me and pay the remaining 3 payments along with the mileage overage. He filled out a check request for $1600.00 and said, "this will more than cover the remaining payments and additional mileage of your Honda lease." He clearly said, “this WILL pay your final three payments and the mileage penalty”. I was not confused, he did not say “I’ll offer you $1600.00” or “I’ll give you $1600.00 toward your lease”. Also, my wife was sitting right next to me and was also part of the purchase conversation. I asked if he was sure and he said, "yes, you'll even have a few extra dollars left over.” I have it in writing on a check request as well as a check stub.

http://home.comcast.net/~jm20110/check-request2.jpg

After 6 weeks Honda had taken another payment from my checking account for the Accord and it was still at the dealership and in my name. But to make matters worse, after 12-15 calls and/or emails to the dealership and to Honda finance (with only a few return calls) I found out by calling Honda Finance myself, that the figure the salesman came up with and assured me would satisfy the Honda lease is approximately $1536.46 short. The total, seems to be $866.81 for the last two (plus) payments of $367.37 ea. and $2269.35 for the additional mileage, which would total $3136.46. I talked to the GM, Lenny Gonzales and my salesman in person, and they both agreed that Scott, my salesman made a math mistake and it was a very bad deal for them. Lenny then said, since "they didn't make any money on the car, they certainly couldn't give me any money back". This statement was ridiculous because in the end I was paying more for the lease than the current televison ad campaign.

I then talked to Scott Crabtree, executive manager of the Pohanka dealership, on 6/4/03 and he said he would not help me either. He said it was a terrible deal and that I agreed to $1600.00 and that’s the deal. I told him I agreed to the figure HIS salesperson told me would satisfy my lease and release me from it, after he supposedly obtained that number by calling Honda Finance. Whether it was intentional or not, I was misled and entered the new lease contract based on that lie.

This has been the worst buying experience I have ever encountered and the great customer service that Pohanka Acura talks about on their web site is a joke. Their customer service is nonexistant. I demand that Pohanka Acura honor the agreement that was made on 4/24/2003 and pay the final three payments of $367.37 each, (actually turned out to be 2 about 1/2 mo. payments of $866.81) and the additional mileage penalty of $2269.35 to end my lease with Honda Finance.

To date, Pohanka Acura has sent me the check for $1600.00 to be used for the payoff of my 2000 Honda Accord. They now need to honor their agreement and pay me the additional $1536.46 so I can be released from the Honda as promised.
More
