My salesperson was terrific: not high-pressured, knowledgeable and respectful (as a female, I've been treated condescendingly by car salesmen). I wasn't pressured to buy after-market options, warra knowledgeable and respectful (as a female, I've been treated condescendingly by car salesmen). I wasn't pressured to buy after-market options, warranties, etc. The sales process went very smoothly -- I was very impressed! More
Quick, convenient and professional. I've been to other Acura dealers before and the service here is by far better than the rest. As a woman too, I feel confident that they aren't giving me B.S. and they Acura dealers before and the service here is by far better than the rest. As a woman too, I feel confident that they aren't giving me B.S. and they are doing the right job the first time without excessive hidden jobs like other dealers tried to con me into. Pohanka Acura is a dealership you can trust! More
Before coming to this dealership, I have already worked out a price with a sales manager. I'd recommend this sales consultant at this dealership. More
I have had bad experience at Pohanka Acura Service department. I believe I have been a victim of mechanics leaving parts to fail so that they can bring me in for more service. I had brought in my car department. I believe I have been a victim of mechanics leaving parts to fail so that they can bring me in for more service. I had brought in my car for an oil change and transmission fluid change. when i got back after the sevice, i had noticed transmission oil leak. i had monitored hoping that it was just residue oil dripping. It was still leaking the next day, I could see a noticeable dropplet forming and dripping ever minute or so. I called pohanka acura and spoke with dan burns the service rep that had serviced me when i was there on sunday. i tell him about the leak and he tells me that the car was already leaking before i had brought it in, and that he knew where it was leaking from. Now as a service department, why would you not notify me of such a problem when first noticed. I was there the whole time. I ask him if there is any thing that he can do, but he said that only thing is for them to rebuild the tranmission which would be like $1200. I had never noticed any leak of such ever since i have own this car(3 years). So I decide to lift my car up with a jack and personally see where the leak was coming from, and when i checked the drain bolt of the tranmission, it was LOOSE to the point where i was able to turn it with my hand. So i tightened the drain bolt and there hasnt been a single drop of leak since. I call Dan back the next day to give him another chance to redeem him self but he lies again. So I ask him where the leak was coming from and he says the hondabond seal they had used on the recall work. This only leads me to believe that I was set up by this devious dealer. UPDATE: I went to the dealer and met with the service manager Bill Bowden and told him about the situation (which I should have done first before writing this review). He's a very good guy and wanted to correct things right away. He had one of the master mechanics look at my car right away to check that everything was ok. Dan wasn't there when I was there but Bill made sure that he got with Dan later that week to get to the bottom of the situation. Bill called me back later that week, told me that there had been a communication mistake between Dan and the mechanic that did the work. He also told me that the mechanic that did the work no longer works there. He also gave me a 100% refund on the work with out any hesitation. More
I bought a 2001 Acura TL from them back in 2004. It wasn't a great experience but not too bad either. Went there 2 years ago to change the tranny under warranty and the whole experience was great (Jerr wasn't a great experience but not too bad either. Went there 2 years ago to change the tranny under warranty and the whole experience was great (Jerry was the service advisor). I usually take my cars to Goodyear Gemini for state inspections and oil changes and to Koons Honda in Manassas for more serious issues. 3 weeks ago I had the 105k major service done at Koons (timing belts, water pump, spark plugs, side engine mount) mainly because of the price $1000 vs $1700 at Pohanka. They did a very good job and was told that the car is in great shape and there's nothing else that needs to be replaced. Couple of weeks later, the state inspection is due and since Pohanka is 2 minutes up the road and I just received a Free State Inspection coupon from them, I went there to do it. BAD IDEA! Dropped the car for state inspection and a brake fluid flush around 9 AM, I get a call from Tom Smith the service advisor around noon. He tells me the car failed inspection and I will have to replace the front engine mount (says it's leaking hydraulic oil?!?) and lower ball joints to pass inspection. The cost to fix all this at Pohanka? about $950 before taxes and shop fees. Whole thing smelled fishy since I didn't notice anything abnormal vibrations when accelerating hard or any noise from the ball joints, plus the car had just been inspected 3 weeks ago at Honda. So I tell him I decline the repairs and I start calling around for some quotes. First call to Goodyear Gemini in Centreville, service advisor says "I won't call names but there's a lot of Acura's coming in that failed inspection at certain dealership in the area because of lower ball joints and when they come here for a quote we find no problems with them and cars pass inspection without any need for repairs."!!! Go figure...how many Acura dealerships are close by? Just Pohanka. So being on the way home, I stopped by NTB in Chantilly for a quote, they inspected the car for about 15 minutes and then told me there's nothing wrong with the front engine mount or the lower ball joints. They see no need to replace them!!! Unfortunately they don't do state inspections but can pretty much guarantee it will pass. They suggest to remove the rejection sticker and take it to a different station for inspection. So I take their advice, stop by my house to take down the sticker and drive straight to Goodyear Gemini in Centreville. One hour and $16 later the car passed state inspection. Lesson learned: a free state inspection at Pohanka Acura will cost you $1000!!! STAY AWAY! More
I shopped two Acura dealerships and two Toyota dealerships and ended up buying my new car from the other Acura dealership. My impression of Pohanka Acura is that it is just another ordinary deale dealerships and ended up buying my new car from the other Acura dealership. My impression of Pohanka Acura is that it is just another ordinary dealership where the employees talk a good game and try to impress you with the facility and with how many cars they sell, but they'll give you a good price only if they have no other choice. In other words the customer has to know what constitutes a fair price for the new car and for his/her trade-in before walking in the door, or you'll pay too much. That's not unusual in dealerships around here, but these guys make you work too hard to convince them; it's almost as if, instead of their doing their jobs, you have to be the salesman. I ended up resenting the hoops I had to jump through to reach a fair offer, and in the end just wanted to get out of the place and go take a shower. Fortunately the other Acura dealer I visited treated me far better and we reached a fair price without all the hassle. Pohanka's location is more convenient to my home, but I'll drive a little farther when I need service rather than spend a cent there. I'm a happy customer -- but not of this dealer. More
This is the 2nd time ive had to deal with bill, and each time i do he is extremely frank about stating his company will never accept blame for anything their employees do. They rigged my headlight and are time i do he is extremely frank about stating his company will never accept blame for anything their employees do. They rigged my headlight and are trying to charge $600 for their mistake. I stated to him that only 2 places have touched my car, and the 2nd company (a repair shop) documented every part they took off. When i asked him about this he told me to just keep pressing my insurance company and that they would never do such a thing. I will do as he says but i warn everyone when dealing with this company. buyer beware.... They have a nice glossy appearance but their work is just horrible More
I took the time to read some of the other reviews on this page and I honestly have to say that I was shocked! My experience was nothing but positive and I left there feeling as though I was the only custome page and I honestly have to say that I was shocked! My experience was nothing but positive and I left there feeling as though I was the only customer in the store. I went through the route of requesting an internet quote and within 15 minutes I had been contacted by Pohanka Acura. Their promptness was what had me going there first before any other dealership. Upon arriving at the dealership, I was greated and introduced to my sales associate and 10 minutes later, greeted by the General Manager himself. I basically wanted to leave there feeling as though I had practically gotten the car for free :) I went in there expecting to deal with sales associates who had little authority for negotiations. I was surprised to find that after my initial conversation with my sales association, the General Manager himself spent over 3 hours assisting me, satisfying my requests, and basically sitting by my side to ensure that each and every piece was completed to my highest satisfaction. He even waved goodbye as I drove away in my new vehicle. I received follow-up calls by my sales associate to see if there was anything else they could do, to assess my happiness and see if everything was set. I would highly recommend this dealership - they were professional, attentive, PATIENT (I was a tough sell!) and just plain nice. I didn't feel like I was dealing with sleazy car salesmen and I appreciated their cooperation. More
After two months of owning my new RDX (2800 miles) we noticed oil was leaking from the engine. I took it to be serviced, and was told they needed to order a part - it would take three days. After a wee noticed oil was leaking from the engine. I took it to be serviced, and was told they needed to order a part - it would take three days. After a week of being unable to reach my service advisor, he told me they were waiting for another part, and the car would be ready in three more days. 4 days later I was still unable to reach my service advisor and was forced to escalate the problem (not easy!!!!!). When I heard from the Service director, I was promised their best technician would work on the car the next day. That resulted in learning the car needed a new engine. I am still waiting for a repair, though I have requested a new car since I essentially purchased a new car that needed a new engine. The dealership claims their hands are tied by ACURA. ACURA says they will eventually fix the car, so I don't need a new car. Nobody is working to make it right. This is my first, and last, ACURA. More
BE WARY OF THIS DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT I had BE WARY OF THIS DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT I had my 02 TL with 91k miles in for a Virginia State Safety Inspection. I was told that the front BE WARY OF THIS DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT I had my 02 TL with 91k miles in for a Virginia State Safety Inspection. I was told that the front ball joints were bad. When I asked for the quote for the repair and when I was hesitant not to go along with the repair the service person started treating me very very rudely. In fact I was trying to get the repair cost down so I talked to the service manager on duty and to my big surprise he would not budge and he was a bit rude too. Had I read the reviews written by "03TL" on 7/2/08 and "Itessier" on 8/14/06 before this aweful experience, I would not have dealt with them in the first place. See their reviews below. So I am warning those who would consider taking in your car for VA inspection at this dealership proceed with extra extra caution, don't get taken for a ride there, go elsewhere where you will be at least treated the way a customer is supposed to be. These people there are a bit of a cut-throat ones. More
