Scammers Leased my 2018 IS300 through them. Reliable car, of course, but no reflection on the dealership - it's the car brand. Just 2 weeks ago, I receive a Leased my 2018 IS300 through them. Reliable car, of course, but no reflection on the dealership - it's the car brand. Just 2 weeks ago, I receive a call about booking a service appt. I told the polite young lady on the phone that I have my own private mechanic and would cal them if I needed their service dept. She said ok and we both hung up. 1 week later, 2 days ago, I get yet another call from the same dealership asking about an 'overdue' service apt. I again reiterated that I have my own private mechanic I trust and would cal them if I needed their service dept. He asked who it was, and I told him I was not at liberty to tell them. We both hung up. This morning, a woman with an Eastern European accent called me to advice me of "a serious airbag recall on my car and when I'd be bringing it in for service." I told her I was not aware of any recall on my car and further, I never rec'd a letter from Lexus about such a recall. She said "Oh, that's because the recall is brand new and we're calling you before you get the letter." I told her I didn't believe her and hung up. These people (as all dealers) make their money from the service dept, ESPECIALLY by scaring you into believing there are open recalls, dangerous conditions that only the dealer can fix. Once your car is there, they find things that, conveniently, need attention and are not covered under a warranty but "thank goodness you came in, because this could fail on your next road trip and leave you stranded." These people seem to go the extra mile to scam people. Thank goodness I am smart enough to not fall for their tactics. I wonder how many people are too busy to notice the scams?? More
