Disappointed with service Booked the first appointment (7 am) so I could get my car back in time to attend an evening wedding (at 6 pm). At 8:30 am I was told my car would need Booked the first appointment (7 am) so I could get my car back in time to attend an evening wedding (at 6 pm). At 8:30 am I was told my car would need a 4.5 hour repair job, so I approved the work be done. I returned home, but had to call the dealer at 3:30 pm when I didn't hear anything. I was told my car needed to be washed, but it would be ready for pickup at 4:30 pm. At 4:45 pm, my paperwork was not ready and my car still was not washed! Due to the time constraints, I had to hastily pay my bill and drive home (and to the wedding) in an unwashed vehicle ... More

Worst Experience Possible Zero Stars (I was forced to give 1 star to submit the review) - I have owned Toyota vehicles for over 15 years now and my faith in Fremont Toyota has Zero Stars (I was forced to give 1 star to submit the review) - I have owned Toyota vehicles for over 15 years now and my faith in Fremont Toyota has been lost, and my faith in the Toyota Brand as a whole has been shaken to the point where I am looking to other brands to shift my loyalty to. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars maintaining my vehicle at Toyota Dealerships over the years and a significant amount of money at Fremont Toyota. I brought my Tundra in for service on 7/6/19 for its 170k mile maintenance and was told I needed additional maintenance that was in excess of $8000 dollars in addition to the several hundred I spent for my scheduled maintenance. I was on a deadline to leave for a 1000+ mile round trip/vacation in a few days so I chose to replace what was described to me by the service advisor as the things that would have "catastrophic results" if they failed because I didn’t feel I had any choice in the matter (which is a decision I greatly regret now after the fact). I made an additional mid-week appointment to have these things addressed and to give time for the parts to be ordered. I spent $5100 dollars to have the rack and pinion steering, the lower control arms, and the sway bar replaced, I also had the valve cover gaskets replaced. I dropped my vehicle off in the afternoon of 7/9/19 (the day before my appointment) because the service advisor said the tech could use the extra time for the repairs because there was a lot to do. I was not able to pick my vehicle up until closing time on 7/10/19 and the service advisor had told me earlier in the day that they would do a detail/wash on my truck because it was taking so long, but they did not have time to do this. Part of the reason the repairs took so long was because the sway bar did not arrive in time (despite having had ample time to order it) so the service advisor informed me they would have to keep my vehicle another day or they could use an aftermarket part. He assured me the aftermarket part would be fine and that they could get it that day, which they did. I agreed because I had to leave for my trip. I picked up my truck and prepared to leave for San Diego. On the day I drove down, I noticed an intermittent strange noise about half way down when I pulled off the freeway and stopped for fuel, but I couldn't see anything out of order when I checked under the vehicle so I continued on. When I got down to San Diego and pulled off the freeway, I could then hear a horrible creaking and clunking that was so bad I thought the front end was going to collapse. Luckily I was staying a block away from Toyota of Poway so I took the vehicle there, but they were closing so I would have to bring the vehicle back two days later on Monday. So here I was at the beginning of my vacation without a vehicle and stressing about my vehicle and my safety on the trip down after spending $5100 dollars to make sure it was safe to drive to San Diego. I called the service advisor at Fremont Toyota to let them know what was happening. On Monday, Toyota of Poway looked at my truck and told me that the noises I was hearing was because the bolt for the sway bar was the wrong size and it was failing (and a huge safety issue) and the Poway Toyota service advisor told me that his service techs there would have noticed there was an issue immediately and would have insisted on using an OEM part. I spoke with the service advisor at Fremont Toyota to discuss how they were going to resolve this with the Poway dealership and he insisted that they would refund me parts and labor and that I could pay Poway Toyota directly for their fixing your dealership's mistakes. My service advisor at Poway Toyota was perplexed at why Fremont Toyota didn't just use a PO for inter dealership payment. My Fremont Toyota service advisor said they weren't set up for that. There was also a lot of nitpicking (a word used by the Poway Toyota service advisor) about what I was going to be reimbursed for. At one point, the Fremont Toyota service advisor told me that I would get a free alignment at Fremont Toyota upon my return. I insisted that if my vehicle needed an alignment as part of the fix for this issue that I would have it done at Poway Toyota instead of driving 500 miles on a vehicle that needed an alignment. The Fremont service advisor “spoke with his manager” and then was able to “reimburse” me for an alignment so I could pay for the alignment at Poway Toyota. This reimbursement process was another huge inconvenience for me on top of these repair issue. When I asked my Fremont Toyota service advisor if the reimbursement to my credit card would be immediate or if it would take time, they said it would be an immediate reimbursement to my card, but it in fact took over 3 days to show up on my card. Also, the amount I was being reimbursed was less than the amount I was being charged at Toyota of Poway to fix Fremont Toyota’s faulty work (they were able to work with me on the billing at least.) Meanwhile, between 7/12 and 7/14 while my truck was being fixed (again), I received no less than 5 automated emails from Fremont Toyota asking for my feedback on my recent service and telling me that I still had more service items to take care of (and pay for). Other things I discovered during this ordeal include; labor rates can differ significantly between dealerships as Fremont Toyota seems to charge double the price of what some of the things would have cost at Poway Toyota (ex: wheel alignment), Fremont Toyota charges over $40 dollars to rotate your tires (something I can get for free from the franchise I bought my tires at), some dealerships want to create loyal customers while others seem to not care at all. In conclusion, the vacation that I had been looking forward to for a whole year was completely ruined by this incident as the first few days I was without my vehicle and the remainder of the time I was concerned about my 500 mile drive home and was also feeling like I have been cheated out of $5100. At this point, I have no idea if Fremont Toyota can restore my faith in the Toyota Brand and salvage some of its reputation in the process. I have waited a few weeks to write this all down because I am still upset about everything that happened so I am sure I am leaving out details, but it doubt it matters much at this point. I do know however that should I ever go back to Fremont Toyota, that I do not want to ever deal with the service advisor I had, nor would I want that service tech to work on my vehicle(s) as the entire experience left such a bad impression with me.
