BUYER BEWARE: Unresolved Financial Dispute & Severe Service Failures I purchased a 2026 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring with pre-paid accessories from Freeway Honda (Santa Ana, CA) for over $45,000 (Jun Service Failures I purchased a 2026 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring with pre-paid accessories from Freeway Honda (Santa Ana, CA) for over $45,000 (June 2026). Two months after taking delivery, the dealership is still holding hundreds of dollars of my money and refusing to issue a refund check to me, despite written email communication admitting the funds reside in their accounts. Both the General Manager and Finance Manager have attempted to justify withholding these funds using incorrect information. In my opinion, this constitutes a clear deceptive business practice and a breach of contract. Because the dealership refused to honor a written Final Demand letter, I have officially initiated complaints with the following regulatory bodies to investigate their financial and operational practices: • California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Investigations Division (regarding dealership licensing and contract compliance) • California Department of Insurance (regarding the handling of the Extended Honda Care Policy, an insurance product) • The California Office of the Attorney General (to investigate compliance with consumer protection laws, business practices, and sales tactics) • Adult Protective Services (requesting a formal investigation into potential financial elder abuse of a senior citizen under California law) • The Orange County District Attorney (Beyond the unresolved financial dispute, investigate any financial irregularities and business practices) Other Issues I Experienced: • Key Fob Failure: On delivery day, I discovered one of the two provided key fobs was inoperable. The service department realized I had been handed a key fob for an entirely different vehicle type. It required two separate visits, six weeks and hours of my time just to get a functioning second key programmed. • Missing Manual & Accusations: The dealership failed to provide the standard consumer vehicle service manual at delivery. When I requested it, the salesperson essentially accused me of lying, claiming I might have put it in my personal backpack. It took several attempts for them to provide the missing manual. • Unfinished Work: The discourteous service department staff and technicians flatly refused to complete the installation of all the accessories as were explicitly prearranged and specifically agreed to and paid for at the time of purchase, and were physically in the service department a few days before my appointment. This was verified by phone and email prior to my installation appointment. I am allowing these state and corporate regulatory agencies and other organizations to conduct their independent investigations into Freeway Honda’s contract pricing and business conduct. If you value your time, your money, and ethical business treatment, take your business elsewhere for sales and service. More
Ampy Quinones was really great - helped me through stressful process of getting new car. She spent (more than expected!) time with me to learn about the car’s features.
